[PATCH AUTOSEL 5.1 028/186] drm/nouveau/disp/dp: respect sink limits when selecting failsafe link configuration
From: Ben Skeggs <bskeggs at redhat.com> [ Upstream commit 13d03e9daf70dab032c03dc172e75bb98ad899c4 ] Where possible, we want the failsafe link configuration (one which won't hang the OR during modeset because of not enough bandwidth for the mode) to also be supported by the sink. This prevents "link rate unsupported by sink" messages when link training fails. Signed-off-by: Ben Skeggs <bskeggs at redhat.com> Sig...

Failsafe AGI using AEL
For the mailing list archive and for anyone else interested. A few years ago we needed to automatically run a second AGI if the first AGI failed i.e. a "failsafe" setup. Mainly because I'm not a very good programmer. 8-| The code below is very similar to what we use in production. This code is also at http://pastebin.com/LBaLhdfJ for a while. "sm" stands for Switch Manager (get your mind out of the gutter), the name of one of our inte...

centos6 - failsafe terminal on login screen
I have some clients that run centos6 and I need to have users be able to access the "failsafe terminal" from the login screen. The old options (from 4/5) for choosing your session aren't present. I've googled a bit on this but don't seem to be using a good search string as most of the hits have nothing to do with this and the rest aren't helpful. So, just wondering...

failsafe against "stupid" / careless users
I'm admin on a samba PDC with 150 users, and as normal users they are quit "stupid". This means that they ofte deletes something that shouldnt have been deleted. And I find it anoying to restore their files from tapebackup. So would it be possible to get samba to "move" files instead of deleting them? This way I could allocate a disk to store deleted files for a periode of

zfs failsafe pool mismatch
...plicated it, and what the best practice is to a avoid the issue, or fix it in an accepted manner. If they kernel patch, and reboot they may get messages informing them that the pool version is down rev''d. If they act on the message and upgrade the pool version, then have to boot from the failsafe it fails as that kernel does not support that pool version. What would be a way to fix this, and should we allow they catch to even happen? Thanks -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

FAILSAFE preventing errors from displaying?
...no longer get either of these. I get the ugly black and white "500 Internal Server Error" message. The happens the same in Mongrel for development and with Passenger in production, so I figure it has to do with some kind of configuration snafu. In the logs I see something like /!\ FAILSAFE /!\ Sat Jan 10 23:51:45 -0600 2009 Status: 500 Internal Server Error (followed by the error message and stack trace) I didn''t used to see anything like this, so I suspect it might have something to do with what''s going on. I think this is also preventing exception_notific...

remote starting dir failsafe ?
Hello, I am going to be running an: rsync -av --delete $source user@host:$destination from one system to another. The problem is, $destination is a variable given by a script, and over time, many such rsync commands with many such variables will be run. I lay awake at night wondering what would happen if someone plugged in a broken $destination, and my nightly rsync proceeded to delete

context switch
In debugging the sles9 port on 64 bit MP machines, I am seeing a problem where the hypervisor takes a fault in loading fs in the context switch code (load_segments()). The selector is one of the TLS selectors. It appears that the cpu in question has updated this selector with a value of 0 just prior to the problem I am seeing. Looking at the Linux context switch code, we first update the TLS

Rescuing from REXML::ParseException
...respond_to do |request| request.all { render :text => "Uh oh" } end end and the same for #rescue_action_locally. It seems that if the Content- Type header of the request is set to application/xml or application/ json then Rails ignores my exception rescuing code and goes back a FAILSAFE 500 error. Anyone know why this is or what I''m doing wrong? Thanks

Forcing ZFS options
...rt'': directory is not empty and such. Is it possible to force the new values to be saved into ZFS dataset properties, so they do take effect upon next pool import? I currently work around the harder of such situations with a reboot into a different boot environment or even into a livecd/failsafe, just so that the needed datasets or paths won''t be "busy" and so I can set, verify and apply these mountpoint values. This is not a convenient way to do things :) Thanks, //Jim Klimov
