Unix user rights to join domain
Hi,
I recently joined a Samba server to a Samba PDC'd domain. It worked rather
smoothly after I figured out that I had to create a root account with
smbpasswd on the Samba PDC. Without it, I was stuck with the following
error:
> smbpasswd -j WHATEVER -r WHOCARES -Uname%password
error setting trust account password: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Unable to join domain WHATEVER

Xen License
Hi Everyone,
This is going to sound silly but...
I''m just off the phone with a Microsoft SPLA reseller. They sell licenses to run Microsoft software in a hosted environment. I was asking about obtaining Windows licenses to run on my Xen VPS hosting solution.
Maybe there is a big misunderstanding, but I''m faily sure she said that it was illegial for me to rent out Xen

Creating my own YUM repository
I have already 6 Centos machines here and it is getting strange
having to pull down updates to each system.
Seems like I should set up one system to pull updates and then all
other systems to point to it.
How?
Plus then I would want to add to this repository.
Say that a number of my systems use tomcat which is only available
via rpm. I would like to be able to add it to my repository, and

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello!
Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet
connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type
connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to
look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly
improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers
range from having just a

RFC: SIMD math-function library
Dear LLVM contributors,
I am Naoki Shibata, an associate professor at Nara Institute of Science
and Technology.
I and Hal Finkel would like to jointly propose to add my vectorized math
library to LLVM.
The library has been available as public domain software for years, I am
going to double-license the library if necessary.

Thank you for providing a second preview!
Unfortunately, the Makefile.lite files in win_utf8_io and flactimer are
still missing. The attached patch adds them and also changes config.mk
to not use -fPIC on Windows (to avoid compiler warnings, because all
code is position independent on Win...

Looking for suggestions on how to debug pvm/snow proc's
Hi All -
I'm running a faily long script that uses rpvm & snowFT to spawn off
multiple processes with the 'clusterApplyFT' function.
Specifically, what happens is that the head node generates a number of seed
clusters that are then spawned off to the pvm cluster (in this case, nodes
on a 4 dual-core machine) using clusterApplyFT to apply a function to each
seed cluster that

How to serve a subset of IMAP folders for hand held devices.
Hello
I am currently running dovecot 1.2.15 on my home server. I have over 200
folders in personal email account, and I have found that my smart-phone
does not work well trying to display that many folders.
I solved the problem by creating a second instance of dovecot running on
a non standard port, and configured it to serve only a subset my email
folders, so that way the email client on my

Splitting BB pre SelectionDAG
Hi everyone,
I'm faily new to LLVM, I'm working on a new backend.
In my backend, one of the requirements is to split a BB on every call, I
considered putting some kind of pseudo instruction using the
TargetLowering::LowerCall function.
Before going said path, I was wondering if there is some way to split the
BB before the SelectionDAG is generated, this way the call instruction
would be

Fitting a mixed negative binomial model
Dear list members,
I want to fit a nonlinear mixed model using the nlme command. My dependent
variable takes the form of event counts for different countries over a
number of years, and hence I was going to fit a mixed effects negative
binomial model. The problem, as far as I can glean from Pinheiro & Bates
2000, is that I need a model that is not normal in the errors. All the
models they

File transfer speed issue
Hi all,
I have aproblem with Samba copying (unfortunatly I'm new to samba so my
skills are fairly limited).
I have a sun box (solaris 8) with samba 2.2.2.
Copying from sun to a nt server is fast (as good as you would expect)
however, copying from the nt server to the sun box is slow (files copy
normally, then slow to a complete halt then copy very slowly).
We cannot see anything on a

User mapping/login issue
I have been a bit divorced from Samba for a while and am stumped by a recently seen issue.
My Samba server (V4.8.3) is Centos 7 and the remote clients are windoze boxes at the other end of a VPN (OpenVPN).
At some point in "recent" history, access to shares on the Centos server started to fail with password failures.
The reason seems to be associated with user mapping. (See log fragment

I''m just doing a tar-to-tar copy onto the file system with compress-
