Re: Installing NWN on MacOS 10.5
...NWN game and it seems to work now. (It seems that while the game has been made to work, I can find no reference to the installer doing so, and several to it not. Perhaps I'll test it, but probably not.)
I wrote a slightly longer explanation (http://blog.davelevy.info/2011/04/01/adventures-in-faerun-with-an-apple-mac/) on my blog.

setfacl fails for some user names and not others
Hi
I'm currently using Samba 3.0.4 with LDAP as a PDC. The PDC is in a
trusted relationship (both ways) with a Windows NT4 server.
I tried updating to 3.0.7 a short while back but had problems using
'setfacl' to set permissions for users on the trusted domain - i.e.

Problems with Trusted Domains
The company I work for is split across two sites, each site has its own
domain. The local end is a Samba server (DomA) with about 50 users, the
remote end is NT4(DomB) with about 150 active users (400+ usernames in
userlist). The two sites are connected over a VPN (Internally
DomA=172.16.1.0/24, DomB=10.1.0.0/16) and the two domains trust each other.
Users from either site regularly visit,

NT + Samba (trusted domains) changing to AD + Samba
Hi all,
I need to start looking into the problems/solutions of migrating from an
NT4 Domain to Active Directory, where the NT Server is already in a
2-way trust with a Samba PDC.
Hopefully, I'll have test NT, AD and Samba servers setup next week to
start playing with, but in the mean time, I have some questions.
1 When a WinNT server gets migrated to Active directory, and that

ACL's being mysteriously removed from files/folders
Every now and again, I have users complain that they cannot write into a
folder, or that files are read-only. Each time, the ACL's for a
directory are empty, or some/all of the entries are missing, but the
parent of that folder/file has a complete default ACL list.
Curiously, a disabled user account appears in the ACL list.
In nearly all cases, the directory causing the problem is owned by a

Winbind(?) woes after hard disk full
Hi all.
Yesterday morning, we had a problem with our Samba box (3.0.20b-SUSE),
traced to the root(/) partition becoming full. Upon restart, it was
later reported that users at another office (trusted domain), could not
access our server.
Everything had been running smoothly for over 5 months.
Running 'wbinfo -u/-g' returns a list of users/groups from the local
domain, prefixed with

Samba3.6 + LDAP Backend upgrade to Samba4
Hello.
I'm trying to update their samba3.6 to the new version. Use the
instructions
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/samba-tool/domain/classicupgrade/HOWTO
Just use the latest build of sernet.
My samba3.6 work is not in the role AD, and as a standart file server with
LDAP Backend, which stores users and groups.
I'm trying to take advantage of the update utility.
But getting
