ices0, lame, and m4a
...use icecast. I still need an
audio streamer, and I'd prefer to stream directly from
the command line. Since the streamer needs to have
mp3 support for my currently ripped music, I'm
planning on using ices0 with lame support to allow for
the AAC files.
Here's the problem: I installed faad, lame, and ices0
without any problems... or so I thought. I ripped a
CD with iTunes and uploaded the m4a file to my server.
I set up the playlist, run ices, and I get a
segmentation fault. Is this an issue with how iTunes
rips the CD?
Relevant installed ports (let me know if I missed
one):

ffmpeg
This is annoying. I've been trying to get motion working correctly on
CentOS 6. First, there was no ffmpeg rpms. Now, I try to install it, and
it's found on rpmfusion... except that it will not install. It insists
that libfaad.so.0 is required, and tells me faad2-libs-2.6.1-5 from el5 is
available. (I've done some stuff with my repos to try to get what I need
for motion.)
I installed faad2-libs. It *still* will not install, telling me the same:
Error: Package: ffmpeg-libs-0.4.9-0.52.20080908.el5.x86_64

Statically linked ices0
Hi,
I'm trying to statically link ices0, but the configure scripts isn't
really agreeing with me. When I do this:
./configure --prefix=/radio/server --enable-shared=no
--enable-static=yes --without-perl --without-vorbis --without-faad
--without-flac
I still get a dynamically linked binary (linked to a lot of stuff I
specified I didn't want, but that's besides the point):
ldd src/ices
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libshout.so.3 => /usr/lib/libshout.so.3 (0x4955d000)

two problems with flac and ices 0.4 build
i'm trying to build ices0.4 and vorbis-tools 1.0.1 with flac 1.1.1.
Neither seems happy, hence the crossposting (sorry).

ices refuses to see the libFLAC library, even if i specify
--with-flac=/usr/local/lib (or even just --with-flac=/usr/local/, as the
configure script seems to look in the lib and include subdirectories of
the specified path?). i get a configure error:

Batch Process for wav->flac?
I have a hard disk full of live shows. Each show is in an individual folder
(titled by name and date of show), and contains the individual wav files of
the show, labeled "disc1track1, disc1track2, etc." It's the same naming
scheme in each of the 200 or so folders for each show.
I want to convert each audio file to flac - is there a way to do this all at
once? I can't just

I didn't run it with transcoding from ogg to mp3 since I doubt I'll be using
that anytime soon. This is all I really care about getting to work.

Filmon HDI Player
Hello,
wonder if anyone can help here - perhaps a winetrick (tried DIVX - doesn't help, and slight problems with Ubuntu 9.10, like some other Linux programs have). I have tried to install a MS Windows program to watch TV, films etc. over the Internet from filmon.com. The program gives a "network problem" message after trying to authenticate the log-in name and password.

But despite Apple's "kitchen sink" approach in QT, and since the
open source projects are getting better & better, I use my own
recent (SVN) builds of mplayer & ffmpeg and all associated libs
etc. (liba52 for AC3, FAAC+FAAD for AAC, and so on) to test and
monitor streams.
When I was netcasting the LiftedRadio live gigs, I used jackd

audio and feed into IC-2.3.1 in various formats (mainly mp3 via
