CUPS and Samba
...0c5000) All I want to do is share out my printers from the CUPS server to Windows. There's no need for passwords or accounts, etc. There's no reason to lock out 'guest', etc. as I'm *only* sharing printers. Samba, pam, and kerberos
...but no Windows Domain infrastructure. We're currently not using LDAP (but we'd want that to auth against Kerberos anyway). I have the Samba-3 HOWTO, but there doesn't seem to be much related to kerberos in there. Thanks, -- Seeya, Paul GPG Key fingerprint = 1660 FECC 5D21 D286 F853 E808 BB07 9239 53F1 28EE If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!

LDAP, is just me or the Samba How-to?
I was trying to restart my LDAP service and used /etc/init.d/slapd restart, but it said "slapd: unrecognized service." so I tried /etc/init.d ldap restart and it says that restarts the service slapd [ok]. I tried to look for the service on webmin and slapd doesn't even exist. Is the problem on my side or is there a mistake on the Samba-HOWTO-Collection? Ambex

RES: Samba and Kerberos
...use this, I'd need to have the Windows clients transmitting their passwords in cleartext, which I'm not so keen on (unless there's some way to run Samba over SSL or the like?) Thanks for any pointers anyone can throw my way. -- Seeya, Paul GPG Key fingerprint = 1660 FECC 5D21 D286 F853 E808 BB07 9239 53F1 28EE If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right! -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba ========================================================= Esta mensagem...

Samba and Kerberos V
Hi, this is possibly a FAQ, but I couldn't find an answer to it so far, neither in the "Official HOWTO" nor somewhere else. Does Samba have native Kerberos V support, i.e. is it possible to authenticate against a (Heimdal, in our case) kdc? Hints are appreciated! TIA, Jukka -- bashian roulette: $ ((RANDOM%6)) || rm -rf ~

Kerberos support in 3.0?
...es the Windows client need krb5 client sw installed to auth directly against the kdc, or the it proxy this through the Samba PDC? - Does the Samba PDC auth directly against the kdc, or punt that to the LDAP server?
