Fedora 21 extlinux 6.03 boot failure
Hi, I discovered a very strange situation. I have 22 systems running Fedora 21 (F21) with bundled syslinux-extlinux 6.03. On one of those systems, I am having trouble booting. This machine was upgraded from Fedora 19 (F19), so can boot either the new or the old O/S -- F19 is on one disk partitition, F21 is on another, and there's a shared /boot partition. On this one machine, when I try to boot into F21 using the F21 version of extlinux, the system resets (reboots) right at this point: Loading /vmlinuz-4.0....

F19 and virt-install
Hi libvirt: -------- My "short" question is - is there a recipe for installing F19 100% automatically with static IPs? I'm using a combination of url based install with a kickstart script pasted to a gist in order to bootstrap the entire thing. It **used** to work (fedora16), but recently stopped. ------- Note : Right now Im not using the os-variant switch because fedora1...

How to Position a Network Interface in Physical PCI Slot
Hi , I would like to assign a Network Interface card to Physical Slot X in the virtual machine, I have gone through the XML file definition[Now i have some idea on how to position the Network Interface in Logical PCI Slot.] I am NOT interested in using a PCI Pass-through from the Host. currently running Fedora 19 with libvirt 1.2.0 I would like to create an network interface card on

latest freeIPA on CentOS
We're looking to run freeipa on CentOS-6.5. It seems the version available for 6.5 is 3.0, whereas the latest 3.x is 3.3.5 (available in F19 & 20). And now I see 4.0 was just released and will be in F21 (with support for native OTP-based 2FA!). Has anyone attempted rebuilds against the F19/20 3.3.5 RPMS for CentOS? Given the dependency chain, is it worth going down this rabbit hole? Otherwise, is everyone who is running CentOS an...

Re: How to Position a Network Interface in Physical PCI Slot
...address type='pci' domain='0' bus='0' slot='5' function='0'/> </interface> Showing up on a particular slot doesn't necessarily guarantee the name that will be given to the interface - that is completely up to the guest OS. For example, on my F19 hardware, I have an ethernet at bus=4 slot=0 function=0 which was given the name "p13p1", another at 4:0.1 which is "p13p2", and another that is integrated on the motherboard at 6:0.0 which is named "p32p1". On several F19 guests (some installed with F19 from scratch,...

Re: Problem with bridged network configuration
...ever there was one. Even the docs > related to it are incorrect (for Fedora 19, creating the symlink > described at > http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames/ > doesn't have the expected result of disabling the feature). Are you sure that F19 has that form of netdev naming in the first place? The non-integrated netdevs on my F19 system have names based on their slot, e.g. "p4p2", not the type of names specified in the web page you reference above (e.g. "enp2s0"). Even my F20 system seems a bit up in the air - what ha...

F20 Virt-Manager with MacVTap not working
...uses NAT. When I try to set network to use MacVTap with either default or bridged I get no networking for the VM. Any hints around this? I would like to have the VM's on the same LAN as my host and other machines. I don't care if the VM host can't reach the guests. It did work find in F19 but there I believe I had more MacVtap devices to choose from. -- john

openocd
Does anybody have openocd-0.9.0 RPM for CentOS6 x86_64? I was able to compile F23's SRPM (along with two libraries - hidapi-0.7.0 from F19 and libusbx-1.0.14 from F19) but it gives me only "Segmentation fault". Unfortunately i'm too inexperienced to debug it by my own (gdb and strace didn't help me). -- Over And Out MoonWolf

covariance matrix structure for random effect in glmmPQL
...oral correlations in random effect. There are 1825 observations in my data, in which the random effect is called "Date", and there are five levels in "Date", each repeats 365 times. When I tried fit.model1=glmmPQL(y~f1+f2+f3+f4+f5+f6+f7+f8+f9+f10+f11+f12+f13+f14+f15+f16+f17+f18+f19+f20+f21+f22+f23+f24, family=poisson,random=~1|Date,data=mydata,correlation=corCompSymm(value=0.2,form=~1|Date)), the model was fitted well. But because of my particular interest, I need to specify the correlation structure by myself, so I tried the following code, fit.model2=glmmPQL(y~f1+f2+f3+f4+f...

KVM bridge wonkiness in Fedora19
...From inside the VM, I can ping anything successfully (0% packet loss). However, from outside the VM (on the host, or any other system on the same network), I see 100% packet loss when pinging the IP address of the VM. My first question is simply, does anyone else have this working successfully in F19? And if so, what steps did you need to follow? I'm not using NetworkManager at all, its all the network service. There are no firewalls involved anywhere (iptables & firewall services are currently disabled). Here's the current host configuration: # brctl show bridge name...

Re: [PATCH INCOMPLETE] Rewrite virt-make-fs in C (originally Perl).
...ct.c, launch_direct - src/launch-uml.c, launch_uml - daemon/guestfsd.c, commandrf (maybe, since it is in the appliance); other popen usages in daemon/* what about using libpipeline [1] to handle them? While it adds the overhead of a new shared library (although using just libc, and ~55kb in my f19/x86_64 installation), should help a bit in spawning commands and handling piping of them if needed. Given you are starting a new tool in C [2], what about making use of it to check how it works? [1] http://libpipeline.nongnu.org/ [2] as in, was not in C before -- Pino Toscano

Re: PCI Passthrough
...kernel guys ever fixed it in that version or not. I pestered them about it for months, then finally gave up. BTW, you know that F18 has just gone end-of-life, right? This means no more updates of any type, even security updates. You can actually upgrade your F18 machine to F19, and F19 to F20, using the "fedup" package (I haven't tried using fedup to go directly from F18 to F20, but I suppose you could look into it). *A lot* has changed in virtualization in the last year, and as a bonus, you'll be covered for security fixes for another y...
