[OT] IAX2 WiFi phone?
Does such a beastie exist?
I've tried a couple of UT Starcom WiFi SIP phones (the F1000g and F3000
respectively), and found them both to be seriously lacking - regular crashes
(especially the F3000), poor battery life, and poor reception in particular.
However, whilst SIP phones are great, I'd really like an IAX2 phone if there
is one, as I can make that work "natively"...

What replaces Macro() now? And how do you do the equivalent?
I've been working on getting the sample configuration of extensions.conf
to be more usable, i.e. to make the examples be more flexible or cover
more territory... I thought it might be handy to show people how to use
more contexts for virtual hosting, for example.
Problem is I was using the existing stdexten macro from 1.2. See:

[OT] Wifi SIP phones - LinkSys WIP330
Hi List,
Hope everyone is recovering from the festive season :) (ok we still have
new years i guess!)
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has had any successful dealings with
WiFi phones and operation with '*' at all?
I've been keeping my eye on the LinkSys WIP330 (

Would I be correct in thinking that (as

Polycom 501 unregistered itself?
I've got two Polycom 501s in an Asterisk 1.2.6/zaptel 1.2.5 with
Digium connected to POTS. My legacy key system is still running in
parallel.
Today my 501 didn't ring on an inbound call, nor could I call out.
sip show peers showed no ip address for my 501. Rebooted the phone
and it's ok now.
There wasn't anything enlightening in /var/log/asterisk/messages.
Has anyone

WirelessIP5000 SIP registration problem
I have a Hitachi WirelessIP5000 phone (the original 1st gen hardware). It's
running the latest firmware (v2.2.6) and my Asterisk server is running
1.2.10. This setup has been working great for me for a long time, and then
last week I started having a problem where the Hitachi phone loses
registration. It registers fine when I first power it on, but at some point
later the display shows

WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk
installations.
Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network
that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from
access point to access point while on a call?
Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under
the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

WiFi SIP phones
Greetings list,
What are people's experiences with WiFi SIP phones?
When I last looked into them about 18 months ago, they were incredibly expensive, had very limited range and poor battery life. In the end, it worked out much more cost effective to simply use ATAs + DECT cordless phones where there was a requirement for portable devices.
I assume things must have moved on somewhat since
