pentium f00f crash and IP fragment bug crash fixes...
these are both fixed in 2.0.32-pre4 and 2.1.63. The 2.0.32-pre4 stuff seems very solid, though the f00f bug fix is not proper for SMP machines yet. It looks like 2.0.32-pre5 fixes the f00f bug on SMP machines properly. All of these are available on ftp.kernel.org: ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/testing/pre-patch-2.0.32-5.gz ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.1/linux-2.1.63.tgz Greg Al...

G.729a beta codec on old Pentiums
...The machine this is running on is rather old - it's a Pentium MMX (166Mhz according to Linux, I thought it was a 200Mhz but I'm remote to the machine at the moment so I can't watch the BIOS boot to see). This is probably just a shot in the dark, but could this be related to the F00F bug in the older Pentiums? Has anyone else got the beta g729a codec running successfully on an older Pentium machine? Linux /proc/cpuinfo reports the following:- :~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 5 model : 4 model name...

process killed
Hello, I''ve come across a strange problem when installing a particular software package in a domU. I''m trying to install DigiChat (http://www.digichat.com/downloads.html) and the process is immediately killed. I have installed the package with no problems in a VMware VM, UML and native. ...Even installed into a UML, then copied the entire filesystem over and created a domU

Network problems (Xen 4 +Debian Squeze 64bits).
Hi guys, i have 4 Xen servers, two with Xen 3.2.1 and the other two with Xen 4. All four servers with 3 network card attached to different networks, 3 of these interfaces are bridges (configured in the ''/etc/network/interfaces'' config file, NOT in xend-config.sxp file) and one is used for the ISCSI service, where the virtual machines are loaded. The problem is,

...xec reporting how they released software with dozens of bugs, ensuring years of "upgrades" must have resonated with not a few system admins.] Anyhow... I'll climb down from my little soapbox. I'm simply amazed this works so damned well... speed is awesome, security is excellent (F00F bug, teardrop attacks, splatterbombs, et al, get resolved in mere days while many of those attacks can still take down my NT4SP3 server). My mom told me there was never a thing called a "free lunch" - but maybe, with a little patience and being open-minded, one can find a lunch that tas...

[PATCH 0/7] x86 paravirtualization infrastructure
The following patches introduce the core infrastructure needed to paravirtualize the 32-bit x86 Linux kernel. This is done by moving virtualization sensitive insn's or code paths to a function table, paravirt_ops. This structure can be populated with hypervisor specific calls or native stubs and currently support running on bare metal, VMI, Xen, or Lhype. These patches apply to
