interpretation of stress in NMDS
...is OK. I am guessing that the "stress" values across packages are not the same, and googling about has not returned a satisfactory answer ... thus this posting. My concern being that reporting a stress value of 8 for what I consider a satisfactory result may raise a few Primer-user's eyebrows. Gregory A. Strange connection to the outside...
Hi all, for some strange reason, our still-under-test Asterisk deployment wants to contact the outside world and that raised some eyebrows here... Just a sample of our firewall log: -- ...a=DROPIN=eth0 OUT=eth2 SRC=192.168.36.199 DST=195.77.113.194 LEN=476 TOS=0x10 PREC=0x00 TTL=62 ID=39572 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=5060 DPT=62975 LEN=456 -- Why is this happening? We got no relationship with the DST IP address and external access is not al...

Unique instances of a string in a vector -- there must be a better way to do this
I'm sure there's a better way to do this using plyr. I just can't nail the right series of commands. I've got a vector of strings. I want to remove all where the string's count within the vector is > 1. Right now I'm using: Where x2 is the original data.frame and my character strings live in x2[,3]. Based on my results, that looks like it works, though if someone

State of CentOS 8
...n-release close to what was eventually released in RHEL 8.1, and eventually into CentOS 8.1.xxxx. In short and to sum it up, CentOS 8 in its current state has some unpatched vulnerabilities. They have been adressed in RHEL since October, but not in CentOS. It's fair to say this raises a few eyebrows among concerned CentOS users. snprintf on solaris
Hello, I've managed to get around the undefined paths in openssh-1.2pre14 on solaris, but now I'm stuck without an implementation of snprintf and vsnprintf. Is there a library I can download or a way to #define the functions into compatibility? Thanks, --Henry

wall and mesg and Xwindow
I read in another post this morning something that reminded me of a question that has left my pulling my eyebrows out. How are broadcast messages enabled in X? I have found that # mesg y at a console will enable wall to post to that console. And, by placing "mesg y" in /etc/rc.d/rc.local, messages will be enabled on all consoles. But they're not enabled in KDE, neither in a pop-up nor in a...

Problems setting up Samba-3 as PDC
Hi all, it's been a long time since I last posted something to this list as it's been a long time since I administered Samba, so please bear with me :-) I need to setup a PDC on Samba 3. To achieve this I followed the steps described on the Samba docs and on some other websites I found after googling for a while. From the Samba side everything seems to be OK: ---- Apr 3 15:30:06 v601

Ptalarbvorm Update?
To my recollection, there hasn't been any talk about Ptalarbvorm. Is Ptalarbvorm development ditched? Glibc sources?
All, Please excuse any ignorance in this e-mail as I am not a RH/CentOS/Fedora user and may blunder my way through the correct terminology for my request. I'm tasked with reconstructing the CentOS version of the GlibC library for testing with gethostbyname(). My mission is to show that we are not affected by the latest exploit for the product we are shipping targeted for RHEL and CentOS.
