Bug-closing protocol
...It took me a couple of years getting our companies code compiling with clang-cl (linking is far future), working around obscure bugs of which I still don't know if you (as community/maintainer) agree if it is a bug. To make matters worse, every time a component gets upgraded (internal library, extrernal library or even the tool-chain, including clang), there is a high probability of firefighting issues. Only when that fails, I spent time logging a bug (as creduce doesn't work on my system). In the best case scenario, I get an event like this weekend that states: merged. This means: I'm ce...

[RESQUE]Question about queues
...Rake command: COUNT=x QUEUE=* rake resque:work When a worker runs a job of a specific class, it may not run another job of the same class simultaniously. This job has to wait until the previous job has finished before it may start. BTW The reason jobs may not run simultaniously is that the jobs do extrernal HTTP-requests. Too many external HTTP-requests for one class may occur a too heavy load for the service this class is using. The most easy solutaion is to do just this for every class I need a worker: QUEUE=<class> rake resque:work The problem with this solution is that it consumes a lot of...

moving from Windows to Linux - need help
hi I've used R for many years on windows machines, but have now acquired an Asus eee 1000 linux machine. In order to get the best out of the machine, I used the 'pimpmyeee.sh' script, to get the full KDE desktop. The version of Linux is Xandros, which I believe is a close relative of Debian, but sadly I have only a nodding acquaintance with Linux at present. Naturally I want to

openvpn restart fails with dual entry in conntrack and wrong sourceport
the establishment of an openvpn link sometimes fails. I tracked it down to network traffic with wrong Sourceport in the answer packet (should be 1300 not 1024): 2 1.119309000 aaa.185.165 bbb.162.192 UDP 58 Source port: 1300 Destination port: 1300 3 1.119446000 bbb.162.192 aaa.185.165 UDP 66 Source port: 1024 Destination port: 1300 and a collateral entry in the connection tracking table

New on the Web Site
While I''m in temporary retirement, I''ve decided spend a little time experimenting with new things and making some updates to the web site. The biggest result of this effort to date has been: http://shorewall.sf.net/Shorewall_Squid_Usage.html This outlines how to use Squid as a transparent proxy running on the firewall, in the DMZ or in the local network. In the latter two
