Creatulator: Before I go and make it myself, does this exist...
Basically, on thing that annoys me to no end is that I am constantly having to add things to my model that could just be reflected out by the active record. I use PortGres exclusivly, and I know that there are ways to ask the database things like, "what is the primary key" "what relation does this foreign key belong to" etc... So what I am about to go and write myself is a database introspector that will look at a database and create all the Models for eve...

Audit of NMI and MCE paths
...e the console lock to be a recursive lock, at which point it is safe from the deadlock point of view. Are there any performance concerns from changing to a recursive lock? As for spinlocks themselves, as far as I can reason, recursive locks are safe to use, as are per-cpu spinlocks which are used exclusivly in the NMI handler or MCE handler (but not both), given the proviso that we have C level reentrance protection for do_{nmi,mce}(). For the {rd,wr}msr()s, we can assume that the Xen code is good and is not going to fault on access to the MSR, but we certainly cant guarantee this. As a result, I d...

Status?
...e of the last things we need for full adoption of free media formats is a free video format. We're working hard to promote Vorbis, many of the local IMCs (Independent Media Centers, a list of which is on the left-hand side of the global site indymedia.org) have started promoting it either as an exclusivly-supported audio format or as a choice for publishers. A bulk of the video available on the network is in Real format, the longer we go without a free alternative the more video will continue to be published in non-free formats (and thus a lengthier process to reencode from archives). In the effor...

[PATCH] Allow RDTSC and RDTSCP from userspace
...r > not use it, and I eventually want to get rid of it for #DB as well. The #VC handler needs to be able to nest, there is no way around that for various reasons, the two most important ones are: 1. The #VC -> NMI -> #VC case. #VCs can happen in the NMI handler, for example (but not exclusivly) for RDPMC. 2. In case of an error the #VC handler needs to print out error information by calling one of the printk wrappers. Those will end up doing IO to some console/serial port/whatever which will also cause #VC exceptions to emulate the access to the output devices. Using s...

Effective UIDs Nad GID for VIrtual Users
...lo to All. I have a system with FreeBSD 6.1 Release, Dovecot 1.0 Release Candidate 7. I am a novice user in unix world and when my first deal with with Dovecot is Virtual users. User databes in master.passwd file (like a /etc/master.passwd) created by "pw". All works fine, BUT --- If user exclusivly virtual (there is no user with same name in system) IMAP folders are created normal with a right access rights(they described in dovecot.conf statically UID 555) - all cool - BUT when i trying to login with a Virtual user with the SAME LOGIN NAME as in SYSTEM (FreeBSD's /etc/master.passwd user)...

Can I run two instances of asterisk
Can I run two instances of asterisk sharing a single te412p ? I want to be able to have several asterisk servers (for testing various scenarios) running on one server. I was wondering if these asterisk processes could share a zaptel/dahdi card nicely. Julian

shared folder name or public folder with mail address
Hello! we are about to move from cyrus to dovecot and have one open issue for that migration. With cyrus we have "shared/" folders with a name that is self defined like shared/project-xyz but the email address for direct delivery to that folder my be different (not project-xyz at domain.com). With dovecot we try to have it similar (at least how the user sees it in the client) like it

shared folder name or public folder with mail address
...properly. It is a combination of features and A LOT OF testing and analysing the behaviour of postfix/dovecot/public-folder/sieve/acl. For now we have a Public folder setup which is as nice like it is with Cyrus. With Cyrus this issue is less complex to implement. Maybe this helps a bit. Take exclusivly one to two weeks for this task and read and test a lot! :-) Tobias -- collect at shift.agency -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... 64bit: any problems with asterisk?
We're getting a new server. I'm considering installing 64bit fedora rather than the 32bit we use now. Is 64 bit a problem with asterisk? Any issues we should expect? sean

a new proposal
...decode the last page in order to find the total length. But I'm going to suggest that this is a really good time for such a discussion to take place, and really, the optimal time for this proposal to be evaluated (and prehaps) implemented. Ogg's been around for a long time, and almost exclusivly, has been used for Vorbis. That's why the recent discussions have resolved that other codecs could be changed but Vorbis's framing would have to remain with end-time granulepos. So since we're about to unleash an array of new tools for dealing with muxed codecs, and with OggFile/e...

Can I use SGI''s kdb with a dom0 pv-ops kernel?
I asked this a few weeks ago but didn''t get a response, so at the risk of being a nag, I''ll abbreviate and restate. I know there are other Xen specific debuggers, but I want to know if there''s any reason why SGI''s kdb, http://oss.sgi.com/projects/kdb, should not be included in a dom0 pv-ops kernel? While the patches apply cleanly and build, the result is that

FTP Server and IPTables?
I'm having a heck of a time getting vsftpd to work properly. When Iptables are OFF, it works fine, and when iptables is on, it dies. When I try ftp from a command line, here's what the session looks looks like: [root at mylaptop ~]# ftp ftp.server.com Connected to ftp.server.com. 220 Welcome to My Company FTP 530 Please login with USER and PASS. 530 Please login with USER and PASS.
