Trusted domains with Samba 3.0alpha21?
Hi there! I appear to be having problems with trusted domains using 3.0a21. Using Samba as a member server, as user "nirs" on domain "Exanet-il" I am unable to log on to a member server ("snow") who is a member of the "Exanet-qa" domain. The "exanet-qa" is supposed to trust "exanet-il", and it all worked with 2.2 . This is the relevant log snippet I can find: [2002/11/28 18:26:05, 0] auth/au...

Weekly machine password changes (RE: RE: odd: everything SHOULD work... winbind)
No big surprise there. :) I'm still trying to figure exactly what goes on with the machine password changing around. Who initiates this? nmbd? The PDC? Who's notified of this change, and what's going on there. Cant get getent to work with Winbind
All, I am having trouble with the getent passwd and getent group command. I am using 2.2.4-4 version of Samba on a redhat system with 2.4.18-SMP kernel. This issue seems to be intermittent. Sometimes is works and others it doesnt. More often than not, it failes. I can do a wbinfo -g and -u and get the info so I am connected to the doamin, but not getent. This will affect my users from loging

Xyratex disk units
I am wondering if any one knows of a way to manage Xyratex disk shelves from CentOS (in particular CentOS 4). More details: Some years ago I installed a NAS unit from Exanet which consists of 2 rebadged IBM x3650 head nodes and a couple of Xyratex disk shelves with a total of 96 TB of raw disk, connected by fibre channel. The operating system is based on CentOS 4.4, but is modified, and runs a proprietary file system. It has pretty good performance and I'm happy wi...

One "200Mbps" virtual link between 2 ethernet adaptators of 2 linux boxes.
Hi, ------- ------- | B |eth0---------eth0| C | | |eth1---------eth1| | ------- ------- In an attempt to have the install setup to increase speed and/or reliability of a link between two linux machines (for example in case of a wireless connection), I read that there were more than one solution, for example the old eql driver, bonding

Strange crashes and disconnection from PDC?
...een resolved? Isn't the SMB Magic supposed to be in the beggining of the packet and not in the middle? Could this be some buffer going ballistic and screwing up the alignment of the packet with something else, consequently causing a SIGSEGV? 2.2.5 and NIS question
Hi there, i'd like to use NIS (AIX based) to authenticate the samba-users (to implement samba enterprise wide) in "using samba" is an option which should be configured (--with-nis) (NOT the --with-nisplus option) now i got 2.2.5 (source) - but in "configure" this option is missing Was this dropped in version 2.2.5 ? Which was the last version that's able to work

Precedence of usernames w/Winbind
...ssion that all Samba does with lookups is a getpw* and doesn't muck about. Running getent passwd put my NIS UID _before_ the winbind UID. Shouldn't that mean that I would be assigned my normal UID before it turns to the autogenerated one? Thanks! Automounter issue
Anyone seen this before? I have a number of file systems nfs mounted onto clients running various versions of CentOS (and Upstream), although mostly they are v5.x flavors. =20 The server is a Network Appliance filer. When the build process for this team runs, it sometimes dies because it can't find files in the automounter tree; if the engineer checks, he sometimes sees a problem, and

Enhancement of wbinfo in samba2.2.6pre2
Hi, Most of the samba-commands takes a option for smb.conf file exept for wbinfo. It should be nice to have that functionallity in wbinfo also. /Patrik -- "In a world without fences who needs Gates" Patrik Gustavsson, Senior Technical Consultant patrik.gustavsson@sun.com Telephone: +46 60 671540 http://glen.sweden Mobile: +46 70 3551040 SUN MICROSYSTEMS

Possibly a bug
I believe that I've found a bug on Samba 2.2.3a. Sure, there is the 2.2.5 version out there, but reading the changelog I couldn't find something that looked like what I've found. Problem is: Some files (very few of them, about 0,5%) are created, with 2 another copies. The file witch would be the real one is perfect. And we got "for free" 2 corrupted copies of it, with

Strange filenames after copy to smb-share
Hye, we use a samba 2.2.3a which works fine most time. now i found that one client has some strange problems. when the user copies files to the smb-share some of them will be created with very strange filenames. For example let's say the original file is named: my_nicetestfile.txt then on the server the file will be created as my_nic~1.txt and also a file will be created called

...ocess_loop is only called afterwards. Am I right? I can patch up wbinfo to accept a command line argument for where to read smb.conf, while this will _still_ be an ugly hack, it'll be less ugly, and at least more usable. Will you accept it for 2_2? Trouble building Samba 2.2.5 of Solaris 9
Looks like inet_aton has cropped up again, in libsmbclient.c: if (!inet_aton(server, &rem_ip)) { DEBUG(4, ("Could not convert IP address %s to struct in_addr\n", server)); errno = ENOENT; return NULL; } This function doesn't exist in Solaris, and causes this shared library to fail to link, when called by other programs (notably KDE 3): Undefined
