I have to delete samba cache everynight
All, I work for a school and we have laptop carts. However, for over a month, I had this travelling laptop problem where somewhere between 5-15% of my laptops could not see the domain controller (domain not available error). I called it the travelling problem, because randomly throughout the day, different laptops could not connect. Some would start out not working, and by the end of the day,

Command line tool to test bandwidth between 2 servers
What's the best way to do this? Daily, jpg images are added to an inhouse server. Everynight I want to backup these images to a server offsite, via rsync. What I want is to determine what to set the bwlimit to. I also want to estimate how many MB's of images I can move nightly. Thanks Dan

registering samba in wins
for some strange reason, our wins servers occasionally drop samba servers out of there name space. to deal with this, I cron'ed a restart of samba at midnight everynight. This was a quick solution, but a lousy one. I would rather have some way to have samba regularly send name registration requests to wins. Is there a way to do this? barring that, is there some interface I can query on samba before sending it a kill signal to make sure there are no open files? I...

Speed up rsync ,cwRsync and replay changes against a file
Hi guys, I recently installed and setup cwRsync on a Windows 2000 Server - http://www.itefix.no/cwrsync/ -, and I was very impressed. I just followed the instructions on the website and got it working. I am using it to mirror 30Gb's of mailboxes everynight (only grabbing the changes to each file), from a Windows 2000 box to a Linux box (RH9). The nightly replication takes approximately 8 hrs to complete, but the actual size of the mailbox directory only increases by about 120Mb a day. There are 750 mailboxes and each mailbox is between 50 and 200Mb...

random file corruption on NTFS
Hi, We are using Rsync version 2.6.8 protocol version 29 on a winNT box to backup a linux (RedHat 9.0) box (same version of rsync) and everynight a different file on the NT server is reported as being corrupt, there are no errors in the rsync logs on either side. NT Event log records: Event Type: Error > Event Source: Ntfs > Event Category: Disk > Event ID: 55 > Date: 12/05/2006 > Time: 3:05:19 AM > User: N/A > Compute...

Between two days backup, only few lines of statements are modified/added/deleted. I dont want to do incremental backup. Instead, I want everyday's full dump to be sto...

Answering Machine Detection
...detects Answering Machine or Voicemail, hangup call & the AGI will log (ANSWERING MACHINE DETECTED) and at that point, don't queue that call to re-dial later. If * detects a Human picks up the call, the AGI will log (PERSON PICK-UP) and log that entry. I'm currently running a cron job everynight that queries a database of records to call select individuals for reminders. A call.<id> file is generated and placed in /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing for dialing. If you need more info - please let me know, any input/suggestions welcome!!!
