Rails on Sun
Hi Everbody,
I''ve got a potential idea for introducing Rails to my company. My only
shot at this is to minimize what our Ops guys would have to install and
configure to get this up and running.
Right now, our servers are Solaris boxes and we are using Sun ONE as our
web server.
Anyone got Rails running in this environment?
Also, has anyone got Rails talking to Oracle databases?

ActiveRecord: Behavior not doumented
Hello everbody, doing a
#find(:first,an_id)
with Rails 1.1.0 I expected that find returns the record which id mathches the
given parameter an_id or nil if it couldn''t be found.
This behaviour is documented on api.rubyonrails.org.
But the find returns the first available object and not nil if an_id is not in
the db. Is the doc on rubyonrails.org out of sync?
Greetings,

Preconditions for a variance analysis
Hello everbody,
i'm currently using the anova()-test for a small data.frame of 40
rows and 2 columns. It works well, but is there any preconditions for
a valid variance analysis, that i should consider?
Thank you for your answer,

Maildir migration from Dovecot to Dovecot
Hello everbody,
I'm a proud user of Dovecot 2.2.9 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I currently
migrate all my Linux services to a new Debian 8 Jessie Server. On this
server I installed and configured Dovecot 2.2.24.
Now I search a way to migrate the two IMAP users I have on this server
preserving all timestamps, folders and flags. Yes, only two ;-)
I read the following two articles:

silent data corruption with rsync
Hi everbody!
I'm currently working in a project which has to copy huge amounts of data from one storage to another. For a reason I cannot validate any longer, there is a roumor that "rsync may silently corrupt data". Personally, I don't believe that.
"They" explain it this way: "rsync does an in-stream data deduplication. It creates a checksum for each data block

GBP/pound sign being converted to question mark
Hi everbody. I''m at my wit''s end with a tiny bug in my Rails app. The UK
pound symbol (?) is being converted to a question mark (?) somewhere
when I save my models. Here''s all the information I can think of.
* Constructing a model containing a ?-sign and displaying its contents
works fine.
* Saving a ?-sign into the database on the mysql command line and

sshd blocks SIGALRM
Gidday everbody,
We have just found an interesting issue regarding the sshd daemon on our
SuSE system. For some reasons, the /usr/sbin/sshd process blocks SIGALRM as
shown in the /proc/pid/status:
$ cat /proc/`cat /var/run/sshd.init.pid`/status
Name: sshd
State: S (sleeping)

[LLVMdev] Register design decision for backend
Hello everbody,
This is my first email to the list, and hope to write more as i get more
involved in LLVM. I'm currently writing a backend for a 8 bit
microcontroller, and i have arrived to a point where i need to take a design
decision in order to continue the development.
Some background information: The microcontroller only has 8bit registers,
however it has some special instructions that
