combining data frames in a list - how do I add breaks?
...d inserting the iteration number between results using "combined[[i]]<-i" and even trying to insert an arbitrary text string between results. It seems to ignore any such insertions, and yet gives no errors. I'd appreciate any thoughts on ways to create a more usable output. Best - Euan. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Best practice for full stystem backup - equivelent of ufsdump/ufsrestore
I''m looking for a way to backup my entire system, the rpool zfs pool to an external HDD so that it can be recovered in full if the internal HDD fails. Previously with Solaris 10 using UFS I would use ufsdump and ufsrestore, which worked so well, I was very confident with it. Now ZFS doesn''t have an exact replacement of this so I need to find a best practice to replace it.

[PATCH net] virtio_net: fix truesize for mergeable buffers
Seth Forshee noticed a performance degradation with some workloads. This turns out to be due to packet drops. Euan Kemp noticed that this is because we drop all packets where length exceeds the truesize, but for some packets we add in extra memory without updating the truesize. This in turn was kept around unchanged from ab7db91705e95 ("virtio-net: auto-tune mergeable rx buffer size for improved performanc...

Problems with labels and scaling in star diagrams
...3. I figured one way around problem 2 would be to reduce the dataset to one row (e.g. stardata[1,]) but that gives me an error "incorrect number of dimensions" when I try to generate the diagram. So, I seem to be unable to plot a single star diagram; it must be two or more. Many thanks - Euan. Euan Reavie, University of Minnesota Duluth.

remove a row from a dataframe, row names disappear
...0.779 0.702 0.978 2.718 So I am losing the row name info. I also notice that, if the first two values in the TPlog column are the same, both values are removed! What's going on, and why does this same thing not happen in more complex datasets with more than one column of values? Many thanks - Euan. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Using a string as a variable name - revisited
...nverting the text "Aulacoseira_islandica" to a number (25, for some reason) and reading the count data from column number 25, instead of from the column labelled with Aulacoseira_islandica. If I try... > columndata <- counts$Aulacoseira_islandica ...it works fine. Any thoughts? -Euan NRRI-University of Minnesota Duluth ______________________ Jason Horn-2 Oct 20, 2006; 06:28pm [R] Using a string as a variable name Is it possible to use a string as a variable name? Bug#710650: Bug#718767: transition: ocaml 4.00.1
...but it's not yet in a state to be able to be uploaded. However, fixing the xenguest compile problem looks fairly straightforward - I can try and provide a patch for that today. Would that help? As for becoming more upstream-friendly, there are now several of us working to make that happen. Euan Harris is working hard on actually creating packages from this work, though the shape of these packages is quite different from that of the old-style 1.3.2 packages. We should start a conversation on pkg-xen-devel to make sure what he's doing is acceptable to you guys. Jon

Adding annotations to qplot from a data frame
...rror "Don't know how to add o to a plot." I also attempted to use multiple configurations of annotate (which only allows one label) and geom_text but the latter seems to be better suited for ggplot. Any help would be appreciated in getting these annotations to work with qplot. Best - Euan Reavie. U. Minnesota.

Bug#738322: RM: xen-api and friends -- ROM; non maintained upstream
...normal Hi, Writting this message saddens me, but no choice... Because upstream authors (eg: Citrix) have explained that they cannot maintain the current version of XenAPI, or upgrade it to a newer version, we have no choice but to remove completely XenAPI from both Unstable and Testing. Quoting Euan Harris from Citrix (it's not needed for the FTP masters to read, however it's useful to have this in a public bug for future reference): > the next 5 years.
