Where wine writes?
I'd like to know where wine writes. I am not speaking about applications wine executes, they can obviously write everywhere the user privileges allows (via z:/), but of wine itself. I saw that even using WINEPREFIX wine writes in ~/.local, sometime it leaves .desktop files around. Why is that? When wine writes exactly? Can I force wine keeping everything it needs in its WINEPREFIX folder?

See also: Myths 6 and 8.... there is not Myths 6 and 8!
While waiting for a compilation I was reading Debunking Wine Myths (http://wiki.winehq.org/Debunking_Wine_Myths#head-b7ba8535e8210369749ee2940a7f2bceac4d8ea2)... Nice read (there are really some crazy people....) until Myth 14 where I read: ``See also: Myths 6 and 8.'' There is not Myth 6 and 8! It is a mistake or some kind of joke? In the latter case... care to explain?

Twlight Frontier game
Dear Wine list, I tried playing with Wine Grief Syndrome[1] a doujin game from Twlight Frontier[2]. Both the installation and the update works fine, and the game starts without problems using the Japanese locale. But when the game starts there is a strange flickering and most objects on screen appear for a split second or do not appear at all. This is how it appears in my Linux:

chkdsk in wine
My external hard drive is formatted with NTFS. The linux support for NTFS is fairly good nowadays, but there is not a complete replacement for chkdsk (as far as I know). So I was wondering: anyone could use chkdsk in wine? it is at least theoretically possible? I tried the obvious: I copied from an old WinXP cd the files chkdsk.exe, ifsutil.dll and ulib.dll. I symlinked the external drive in

Avoid the Gecko dialogue
Can I use a wine command line argument (or anything other) to skip the `installing Gecko' dialogue? I find it only annoying as I install Gecko via winetricks when needed and I usually have a wine prefix for each windows program I use.

Obscure japanese game crash (mariari)
With `obscure' I mean there is no appdb entry for it. The game (~?UhB?Y - Marisa to Alice -MariAri-) is a technically simple puzzle game, but it crashes during certain animations. `Worlds' (set of levels) show the animation only the first time you try so it is just annoyance, but boss levels always show that animation so you cannot play them. I am using wine 1.3.23; with a clean prefix

Installing xaudio2 (Serious Sam Second Encounter HD)
Is there a way to install xaudio2 without using the large `winetricks directx9' ? I am asking because I would like to try serious sam second hd, but in a clean wineprefix it does not start asking for a xaudio2 dll. I copied that .dll inside the game directory, but the game starts soundless and it shows an error about an non-updated xaudio2. A part of the lack of the audio the game runs
