Realtek RTL8111B
...ard gigabit ethernet cards with the realtek RTL8111B chipset. I have tested a mainboard and could not find a way to compile the driver sourcecode from the realtek site because of a missing /lib/modules/2.6.16-xen/Build directory. Can anyone help me out? I am not helped with advice to select a pci ethercard because i need the riserboard slot for a additional gigabitcard for i-scsi storage. and because of expensive rackspace i can put a little effort in making it fit in a 1HE 19" rackmount. Maybe you can also suggest a mainboard wich is compatible with xen and fits in a 1HE rackmount. Kind Regar...

Installing shared Windoze executables on a Samba share (fwd)
Hi, I've got a Samba server here that runs great! I've got an NT machine on my laptop and I can interface with the Samba server directly in any way I want, except for one thing: When I try to install a program (Visio) as a network shared app, the installation always tells me "I've determined that the target drive doesn't support long file names" after I choose to

My little project
...with either distribution. I thought I'd try pxeboot, but our machines don't make any provision for booting over usb and won't boot via pxe even after selecting that option as choice 1 in the bios configuration. I assume that is because the bios doesn't know of the existence of the ethercard in each machine. So now I am thinking of creating a dos partition on each machine's hardrive, installing syslinux thereon, copying the FC3 and LinuxTLE vmlinuz and initrd.gz files thereto, and creating an appropriate syslinux.cfg to allow either or both systems to be installed. After the inst...

performance?
I've looked on the 'net and found some references to poor performance but I haven't seen a solution. My environment: Linux: SuSE 9.2 Pro AMD64 Windows: Windows XP Pro (32-bit) on an Athlon64 Networking: everything connected with GoC. >From the Linux box, I want to basically back up some stuff from the Windows box. To do so, I use the following: smbclient //winbox/share

dialup Win95 -> samba
...l posting ************ >I'm new to this list so please bear with me if I'm going over old ground. I've read the Samba FAQ and the document about configuring Win95 clients, both to no avail. > >I have two Win95 clients which differ in their Network config only in that one has an ethercard which connects via an ISDN router to the Internet. It also has a modem and the Dialup Adapter so I can connect using the modem if the ISDN service is down. I'll call this first the "networked" client. The second is a "standalone" machine which has only the Dialup Adapter...
