Trusted domain user login
Greetings, We are currently experiencing logon problems with a trusted domain user(s). Example: We have DomainA and DomainB DomainA and DomainB both have workstations joined on their respective domain. DomainA and DomainB both have trust relationships. DomainA trusts DomainB and vise versa. DomainA is where being served by a Samba PDC, while DomainB has a PDC using Windows NT 4.0 Server When

UDP and NAT
At the moment I have 2 network connected in a VPN and I'm planning to extend this. Actual status: Network A has a public IP Network B is behind a provider-scale NAT. Actually I'm using openvpn with a single UDP connection from B to A, and hosts inside Network A can communicate with B. I tried with tinc, and I saw tinc has to go TCP-Only for accomplish this. This is because Tinc

Issue with pam_winbind for MS AD authentication and moduleoptions
Hello! passwd, shadow and group looks as follows in nsswitch.conf: passwd: files winbind shadow: files group: files group What really confuses me is that when my AD server is up and running, root or any local user logs in with no problem. And even when AD server is down, after trying a zillion times, root and other local users login, and then if I log them out and try again a few minutes

Ser + Asterisk & DMZ
Hi all I am in this strange situation: we had ser configured to relay calls to numbers to asterisk extensions and all used to work nicely, with both ser and asterisk running on the same machine with public ip (ser on port 5060 and * on 5061). We had to move temporarily our server to another provider which put our server on a dmz, so that now we have our server with private ip but reachable from

smbclient failing due to switch MAC addr table timeout
3.0.21c on RHEL3. I use smbclient to transfer files from Samba to WIN PCs, name resolution is through bcast on local LAN. The network is not managed by me, all PC's are connected through switches (no routers). Sometimes ago network admins started decreasing the MAC addr table timeout in the switches setting it to 300 secs, this increased dramatically the chances a MAC is not in the switch

trigger a program when user login/logoff from NT domain
Hi all, Description: As most (if not all) of us known already Samba allows people to execute a program before (exec) and after (postexec) a user connect to a share. In our network due to certain requirement we have to find some way to run a program when the user login to NT domain, then run another program when he log out. A natural solution is to setup a Samba server and change the NT login

Issue with pam_winbind for MS AD authentication and module options
Hello! I've configured samba with winbind and pam_winbind module to authenticate users that connect to my linux box against MS AD. Works like a charm. If a user exists both in AD and locally, login should assume local users. Again, it works pretty well (It seems at least with my current config). If my AD server goes down for any reason, local users should be able to login. For example, root

Samba + e2compr = problems?
...the network until a certain point, when in some ack the window size of the connection begins to shrink until it reaches 0! This is a window frozen problem, and afterwards all sorts of problems happen, until the workstation sends a RST to the server, which is immediately accomplished leading to the estabilishment of a new NBT session with the workstation. The problem is locking-independent, as the trace done with the sniffer has already shown. Conservative options like "use strict locking" make no difference. Someone has a clue about the shrinking of the window size only in the *second time* t...

RE: Q: Routing the Same IP simultaneously on differentcomputers ?
Hi, First, never compare a linux box with a cheap and dumb broadband router. I''m not sure if i understand very well your scenario but I asume is like this: 192.168.0.1--------- -----------| ipsec | | --------- 128.X.X.X --------- 192.168.0.254 | ISP ----------| linux |------------------| --------- | ---------

Dovecot does not close connections
Hello, I am running into this error: /Maximum number of connections from user+IP exceeded (mail_max_userip_connections=10)/ The suggested solution in hundreds of support requests on this mailing list and throughout the internet is to increase the number of maximum userip connections. But this is not curing the problem, it is just postponing it to the moment when the new limit is reached. When i

Betr.: VPN
IF you are not stuck to IPSec, you might want to take a look at OpenVPN (www.openvpn.org). I found OpenVPN easier to install than FreeSWAN (an IPSEC VPN) and have setup an OpenVPN solution between my German office and our mainoffice in a matter of hours.
