RHEL Cluster Samba and AD
...very much tied in to
our new 2008 servers and esx setup.
I suppose my query in a nutshell is has anyone managed to configure
running win based machines that authenticate to a 2008 DC and have
need to connect to some user/group controlled samba shared directories
that are run under a RHEL cluster? essentailly some user only need to
see the data while others need to be able to write data to the shares.
This would ideally be controlled from AD groups etc. If this could
avoid running openLDAP in mirrored (and slightly modified) tandem to
AD that would be ideal though i am fearing the worst on this point....

glm with linear restrictions
I'm looking for a function or package to estimate a glm with linear
restrictions (e.g. the sum of some parameters needs to be zero). I
found the function orlm in the package ic.infer which works for lm
models, but I need it for glm.
Thanks,
Markus

Bug in xYplot() with method = 'filled bands'
Dear r-helpers,
I have been bitten by a cryptic comment in the help page for xYplot().
Here is some code from Madeline Bauer, one of the authors, which is
essentailly the code on the help page for xYplot():
# This example uses the summarize function in Hmisc to
# compute the median and outer quartiles. The outer quartiles are
# displayed using "filled bands"
set.seed(111)
dfr <- expand.grid(month=1:12, year=c(1997,1998), reps=1:100)
month <- d...

I guess this really isnt the right place to be posting this it's probably the best place for me to find the answer.
I would like to know if any of you are doing windows 2000/2003 installs over PXE and if so how you had it setup. I've done some searching on google and mostly found info about somthing called RIS or RAS or whatever.... it required a windows box and thats not a option.. I

Unit tests fail with sqlite3 and rails 1.1
Hello all,
I''m kinda going through a rocky upgrade to rails 1.1 and I can''t find
much on google about this. When I run my tests I get this:
$ rake
(in /home/www/art2)
/usr/bin/ruby -Ilib:test
"/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rake-0.7.1/lib/rake/rake_test_loader.rb"

smbmount question
Hi,
I'm running Linux 2.2.2 w/ Samba 2.0.2, using the smbmount that comes with
Samba 2.0.2. I noticed that when I mount shares, smbmount sticks around,
almost like a daemon:
[root@jason /root]# smbmount //XXXX.gatech.edu/XXXX$ "XXXXXX" -U jkau
-c "mount /mnt/cnd" < /dev/null > /tmp/smbmount.out
[root@jason /root]# ps ax | grep smbmount
