problem (and fix) with -fms-extensions
I've tried to build something that wanted ms-extensions on OpenBSD. Long story short, didn't work so well, because all system includes lead to <machine/_types.h> #ifndef __cplusplus typedef int __wchar_t; #endif and since ms-extensions includes __char_t as a built-in, this did fail abysmally. It would be simple to fix in OpenBSD, assuming clang did tell us it

problem with project command in rgdal
Hi I'm trying to analyse some data and need to set the geographic coordinate system before I can do the analysis. I've been trying to use the project command in rgdal but keep getting an error message saying: Error in project(locationsMatrix, PROJECTION.OUT) : latitude or longitude exceeded limits ( PROJECTION.OUT <- "+proj=aea +lat_1=-18 +lat_2=-36 +lat_0=0 +lon_0=132

[patch] Still a problem with cleanup.c
...still a problem with the _exit_cleanup() function in cleanup.c despite the patch that was put in last week that prevented recursion. It turns out that sometimes multiple calls in close sequence are done and this causes rsync to spin out of control instead of exiting. This bug was found by Marc Espie and the patch I'm including is his as well. It hasn't been commited to the OpenBSD tree yet and is still undergoing testing but it does fix the immediate easily detectable problem. His post with the bug fix was here: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openbsd-tech&m=104238879828005&...

how to use 2 Nvidia Cards in one system
Hallo, is there a way to use 2 different Nvidia Graphiccards in one system? The first one is working fine with 3 displays but I want to use 2 more displays with the second card. Do I need two card of the same series (4 or 7) or is there a way to mix different series? Thanks for hints. [PATCH] Add OptiUPS VS 575C support to PowerCom
Heya, after I bought an OptiUPS VS 575C and discovering it won't work with Linux (silly me) I sniffed the protocol, found out it's very similiar to the protocol in the powercom driver, so I ended up adding support for that UPS to that driver. The patch is against the current git HEAD and works fine for me since weeks now. The shutdown sequence also works fine (on Archlinux). This is my

"failed to setup INTx fd: Operation not permitted" error when using PCI passthrough
Hi, I'm on a Dell VEP 1405 running Debian 9.11 and I'm running a few tests with various interfaces given in PCI passthrough to a qemu/KVM Virtual Machine also running Debian 9.11. I noticed that only one of the four I350 network controllers can be used in PCI passthrough. The available interfaces are: *# dpdk-devbind.py --status Network devices using kernel driver

rsync via ssh dumps core after being interrupted
Hi, I'm using rsync (version 2.5.5 protocol version 26) on RedHat Linux 8.0: rsync -ae ssh /tmp/junk/ otherhost:/tmp/junk If I interrupt rsync (^C), sometimes rsync on the other host dumps core or uses all (!) available memory and all CPU. gdb on a core file: $ gdb -q /usr/bin/rsync /tmp/core.4576 (no debugging symbols found)... Core was generated by `/usr/bin/rsync --server --sender

Issue with dvd/cdrom drive
Hi, I'm having an issue with my Thinkpad P70 laptop/workstation. This system is a dual boot, windows 10 pro and centos 7. I have not needed to use the cdrom until now, however the system does not see it in /dev. I know the cdrom works as I can use it in windows 10 and when initially installing centos 7, I installed from dvd media. I'm not sure what to check. I do not see anything related

FreeBSD Security Survey
Dear FreeBSD users and system administrators, While the FreeBSD Security Team has traditionally been very good at investigating and responding to security issues in FreeBSD, this only solves half of the security problem: Unless users and administrators of FreeBSD systems apply the security patches provided, the advisories issued accomplish little beyond alerting potential attackers to the
