console sound
...Creative Labs "Soundblaster PCI
128-Voice" soundcard ($13). This card is on the "approved" RedHat list.
However, the documentation inside the package says "VIBRA 128".
Anyhow, kudzu doesn't see then card. The soundcard detection program
says "Ensoniq, ES1371 (AudioPCI-97), module es1371", which seems normal.
However, there is no sound.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks,
Mike

wine and Monkey Island 4
Hi,
today I wanted to start Monkey Island 4 with wine. I'am using cvs version
of wine from today (04.Feb.2001), I also patched the transgaming directx
patch into it.
My system: SuSE 7.0 with KDE2.1beta2, GeForce 2MX with 0.96 NVidia drivers,
Soundblaster PCI 128 (ES1371) with Kernel drivers.
I use wine with installed Windows. My startup command is:
wine "c:\Monkey4\Monkey.exe" --debugmsg +relay,+text,+string --dll
commdlg,comdlg32,commctrl,comctl32,shell,shell32=n,shfolder=n,shlwapi
--desktop 640x480 -- -gl &>wine.log

Gnophone no sound
...ello all,
I'am trying to use 2 gnophones on my LAN. But I can't get any sound.
Here is my configuration:
1. on PC1, I have:
- Asterisk compiled from CVS (CVS-05/15/03) and it runs.
- Gnophone binary version from Debian: 0.2.4+cvs.20020624-3
- a sound card working ( module es1371 for /dev/dsp)
- I registered it as "alice" in extensions.conf
2. on PC2, I installed:
- Gnophone binary from Debian: 0.2.4+cvs.20020624-3
- PhoneJack-PCI working and not used by other programs
(the PhoneJack is tested with Gnomemeeting)
- I registered it as &q...

Getting ext3 up and running
I have a Debian system from a Knoppix distribution. I started out with ext2
but decided to change to ext3.
tune2fs -j OK.
However the system boots with a warning ....ext3 mounted as ext2.
proc/mounts confirms this and no journal is running.
So I have to make an initrd. Did so using instructions in the Debian Reference
and this did not change anything. Any attempt to use the img produced was a

Red Hat patch kills streaming
...ok sndconfig a couple tries to
find the card, but then it played sound no problem. Played some MP3s to
test.
So I did another quick re-install to see if I was crazy and without
patching the kernel, icecast, lame and MuSE fired right up. No problem.
Came out of the blackout streaming.
I am using the es1371 module for sound, or the Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI
1371 card.
The box is an AMD Athlon 1800 with 512 megs of RAM. Pretty generic. Has
anyone else seen this? Would this justify a bug report to the Red Hat
guys or could it be icecast? Thanks.

soundblaster live noise
I had a similar problem...
I updated our radio server to a new box and a SB Live and ran into all
sorts of audio problems. I took the sound card (es1371) from the old box
and swapped out the SB Live and the problems went away.
I think the problem is with fbsd's sb live driver.

can't get oss console working.
...with the current
version of alsa unless you add
#define ALSA_PCM_OLD_HW_PARAMS_API
#define ALSA_PCM_OLD_SW_PARAMS_API
to the top of chan_alsa.c. Even then, though, it doesn't work right.
Playing sound works, but recording
doesn't work at all. You just get nothing.
I also tried an Ensoniq ES1371 AudioPCI sound card. With alsa drivers,
it behaves just like the
VT82C686. With oss drivers, it mostly works, except the sound level of
things recorded with the mic
is way way too low, no matter how I adjust the mixer.
So, any suggestions? Does anyone have a working console with asterisk,

When I make a call to another extension or to the console the clicking
stops and the sound quality is great from then on. However, when I
restart * the clicking resumes.
I'm using an Adtran 750. The sound card is Ensoniq es1371 PCI, and
there is also an onboard VIA sound system.
Has anyone else seen this?

KMIDI problem
Hi gang!
Running 5.1 with Gnome as the default desktop, but have installed KDE
too so I can run kde apps.
Kmidi is the default midi player, so if I click on a midi file in firefox
it brings up KMIDI.
KMIDI goes merrily along playing the file, but I get NO SOUND.
My motherboard has built in audio but it's disabled and I"m using an
old Audiopci 128 card which seems to work fine for

multiple liveice sources
Hi,
I am trying to stream two different sources with two soundcards using
liveice and icecast, all from single Linux box. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible?
I tried creating two sets in the liveice config file where I specified
different devices. No erros but the latter source was streamed on both
mount points. Running two instances of liveice talking to one instance of
icecast failed.
