problems with connecting to a share
Hi, I've the following problem. samba 2.0.3 runs on a sun. The security is server. The PDC is a NT-machine. Sometimes when users try to connect to a share they get the answer the password is incorrect. After a restart of smbd all works fine. Has anybody an idea???? regards Eckhard --------------------------------------------- Fraunhofer Institute Factory Operation and Automation (IFF)

Shares are comming and going
Hia, I have a problem using the %G parameter. At the end if my smb.conf file I have something like: include = \etc\smb.conf.%G At this way I hoped that according the the group, I can load a configuration file accoring the the users group. Instead that a 'smb.conf.it' group is loaded, a samba tries to load 'smb.conf.nogroup' (guest account is uid=nobody gid=nogroup) WHat I

cross-subnet browsing
I have 2 subnets. Subnet 1 has an NT WINS server. Subnet 2 has a Samba server acting as domain master browser and local master browser for a workgroup. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 1 (call it PC_A), I can see all the hosts in the workgroup on both subnets. If I view the network neighborhood from a Win 95 PC on Subnet 2 (call it PC_B), I cannot see PC_A. I

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all, we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command. during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change. The same problem exists

very confusing problem, part II
...and then becomes 0000 values. I have placed the file, which is about 140K, on a WWW server. The URL is http://www.alphaaec.com/samba/mneely01.txt I've never ran this program before or anything similar for that matter, but I don't think transferring 0000 (in essence nothing) is good. H.P. Ermert had the following questions: Q. What error messages do you get? A. Nothing apparent on the Linux/Samba side. On the client Win95 side however, after a period of time (approx 30sec), the message "Cannot create or replace file XYZ. Shared resource no longer available." Q. Are the shares r...

samba-2.0.7pre2 and file timestamps
...us utilities called "touch" do not successfully update file timestamps on a filesystem provided by 2.0.7pre2. I actually prefer THIS incorrect behavior over the behavior I've seen after this bug is "fixed". The bugfix posted by Paul Eggert for 2.0.6 (and the one from H.-P. Ermert before that), changed a line in smbd/trans2.c which is handling SMB_SET_FILE_BASIC_INFO from tvs.modtime=MIN(...) to tvs.modtime=MAX(...) - this is line 1717 in the 2.0.7pre2 version of smbd/trans2.c. Interestingly, 2.0.7pre2 has the bugfix from Paul Eggert incorporated, but with MAX flipped back...

Memory leak in 2.0.7?
I have been experiencing a problem here after having upgraded last week to 2.0.7 (from 2.0.4b) on Solaris 2.6. The smbd processes are growing in size until they are taking over the system. I just had to stop and start samba on a system that had smbd processes of 26 M, 24 M of which was resident in memory for most of the processes. After stopping and starting again, the processes are back down in
