zfs eradication
Hi, I was discussing the common practice of disk eradication used by many firms for security. I was thinking this may be a useful feature of ZFS to have an option to eradicate data as its removed, meaning after the last reference/snapshot is done and a block is freed, then write the eradication patterns back to the removed blocks. By any chance, has this been discussed or considered before?

glmmADMB
Hi there, I am new to the package glmmadmb, but need it to perform a zero-inflated gzlmm with a binomial error structure. I can't seem to get it to work without getting some strange error messages. I am trying to find out what is affecting the number of seabird calls on an array of recorders placed at 4 sites on 6 islands. I have nightly variables (weather and moonlight), site variables

GUI/X11 login and shells other than bash?
Dear Experts, After one of updates that was released some time ago (a Month ago or maybe even earlier) I have noticed the following. On the machines with default runlevel 5 (sorry about old terminology, the new one is still confusing for me ;-) GUI/X11 login (display manager) lists only users whose default shell is bash. Or, at least users whose default shell is tcsh are not listed at all, and if

post-delivery virus scan
I have discovered that many times the virus definitions I use for scanning messages (ClamAV, with the unofficial signatures http://sanesecurity.com/usage/linux-scripts/) are updated some time after my server has received an infected email. It seems the virus creators are trying to race the virus definition creators to see who can deliver first; more than half of the infected messages are found

[PATCH 01/79] fs: add ctime accessors infrastructure
struct timespec64 has unused bits in the tv_nsec field that can be used for other purposes. In future patches, we're going to change how the inode->i_ctime is accessed in certain inodes in order to make use of them. In order to do that safely though, we'll need to eradicate raw accesses of the inode->i_ctime field from the kernel. Add new accessor functions for the ctime that we can

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - krb5 problem / ipv6?
...ng has revealed further possible > problem sources... with ipv6? > I think to remember vaguely... on my very first tests running Samba 4.0 I used the home.local as domain name - and I had to completely disable IP v6. This has vanished when I switched over to home.serbe.ch... but maybe I eradicated lots of other errors, too...

[Feature Request] delete defined line in known_hosts file
Hi, for a test lab, I'm trying to write a small shell script that will eradicate all information regarding a special host from the known_hosts file. Unfortunately, it is quite non-trivial to find out what ssh doesn't like with a host. ssh says which line in known_hosts has the offending key, but ssh-keygen -R doesn't take a line number. Am I using an undocumented interface when I

"Channels got stuck in asterisk 1.4.18.1"
Hi All, Today I faced a problem with channels getting stuck. We use asterisk 1.4.18.1, and there were 2 extensions (channels) that got stuck. When I try to do "soft hangup <channel>", it says "Requested for soft hangup" for that channel, but if we go and check once again those channels are still stuck. Also even after asterisk restart it did'nt go, finally we had to

Optimise Samba for MYOB
First a short background of the situation, My work ran a MYOB file from a MS 2000 server. They were getting problems such as the, "cannot send messages to so-and-so. blah blah blah..." They were planning to upgrade to MS 2003 in an attempt to eradicate all error messages and remove the lag sometimes experienced when opening a large list. Since i am a linux fan i suggested giving
