EPS
Perhaps this has been mentioned and I wasn't paying attention. When I try to import a postscript file (which is EPS according to the R help on postscript) my Framemaker filter chokes. If I simply edit the first line of the file to put %!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0 rather than %!PS-Adobe-3.0 it works just fine. It sure would be simpler if the postscipt driver put this in the file. You could try dev.copy2eps: `dev.copy2eps' is similar to `dev.print' but produces an EPSF output file, in portrait orientation (`horizontal = FALSE') I think you can just use this command, and follow it with dev.off(). Then I recall you have to rename the resulting output to crime.eps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew J Perrin -...

it seems that word can not read encapsupalted postscripts generated by R I used this command postscript("output.eps",horizontal=F,onefile=TRUE) since onefile=TRUE produces an encapsualted postscript actually what I'm trying to do is to insert the postsript file into a word document since other formats like jpeg and bmp do not reproduce the same quality like postscript formats any

dev.copy2eps: position of figure on page
The definition for dev.copy2eps contains the following line: oc$paper <- "special" The result of this is that the output will be placed in the left bottom corner of the page. Even though dev.copy2eps is meant for creating files that are to be included into other documents, you might want to print the figure directly, just to see how it will look on paper. (Of course, this will

...bitmap format supported by gs. The manipulation is needed to work around assumptions made by postscript(), and I think better fixed in postscript() (but not a couple of days before a release). I want to make onefile=FALSE work on postscript() (it needs to start a file for each page, and give it a EPSF-3.0 header), and to allow user-specified paper sizes and the option of not centring on the page. Oh, and I do know it is gswin32c on Windows: that is easy to incorporate but I have not tested it. One could attempt to retrieve height and width from the current device, but I don't see that info...

R-beta: Latex and R
Hello R users, This question might be already discussed before, I apologize if it is the case. Simple... how can I do to include a figure in a latex document. As I have already done in Splus, I tried this: \begin{figure} \special{psfile=gauss.ps .......} \end{figure} but it didn't work. Any help? Thank you in advance. Latex Question
Here is how to print graphs for inclusion in Latex. First make sure you've got the graph you want. Do this by repeating and editing the command to make the graph, in the usual way. (Yes, I know Miktex is good, but it isn't as good as Emacs with ESS, although I admit that I could never configure Emacs properly on Windows - which was reason #23.5 for giving up Windows.) Second, say

Problem with figure size when embedding fonts
Dear Colleagues: I need to make a graphic that uses the Nimbus rather than Helvetica font family so that the font can be embedded in the encapsulated postscript file. This is to satisfy a requirement from a journal for electronic submission of figures. I do the following: postscript('lowess.eps', onefile=FALSE, pointsize=18, horizontal=FALSE, family='NimbusSan')

postscript()
I am using RedHat 6.1, the R1.1.0 binary download, and an HP Deskjet 692C. For some time I have been trying unsuccessfully to integrate R postscript graphics in LaTex. I consulted the Bug Tracking System. In the preamble of the LaTex file (test.tex) I have placed the line \usepackage{graphicx,color} and I use \begin{figure}[htbp] \begin{center} \includegraphics[height=4in]{graphic1.ps}
