logistic regression without intercept
I want to do a logistic regression without an intercept term. This
option is absent from glm, though present in some of the inner functions
glm uses. I gather glm is the standard way to do logistic regression in
R.
Hoping it would be passed in, I said
> r <- glm(brain.cancer~epilepsy+other.cancer, c3,
> family=binomial(link="logit"), intercept=FALSE)
which produced
Error in glm.control(...) : unused argument(s) (intercept ...)
Is there an easy way to do this? I suppose I could start hacking away
at glm so it would take the argument and pass it on, but is...

Win2K. Raw CUPS printing, driver download
...e why this happens with
the downloaded driver but not the locally installed one.
I would prefer to use the driver download feature, since it doesn't
require a manual install of the driver on each workstation. Can
anyone suggest how to get this to work?

Need help on the Lasso cox model with discrete time
Hi everyone,
We have been trying to construct a Lasso-cox model with discrete time. We conducted follow-up examinations on the epileptic attack after tumor surgical resection among glioma patients. The patients are followed-up in the 6/12/24 months after surgical resection, which makes the epilepsy-free time discrete (6/12/24 months). We calcluated many features from the T2-images collected prior to surgical resection. We aimed to used the image features to conducted a cox proportional hazards analysis on the epilepsy-free time by R. Hereby, We have three questions:
1. Is the cox propo...

Manhattan Plot
To whom it may concern:
My name is Jillian Weinfeld. I am currently and undergraduate student at New York University and working at Mount Sinai School of Medicine doing research with epilepsy patients.
At the moment I am creating a manhattan plot with my data set. After reading many forums and such, I have appropriately plotted my data, however, I wanted to see how I can change the colors of the data points for my plot. The normal function that I use for color is not working. I have tr...

Negative binomial GLMMs in R
...del already being a difficult case:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2005-February/064708.html
Since we are developing software for fitting general nonlinear random
effects models we thought this might be an interesting challenge.
We contacted Professor Ripley who kindly directed us to the epilepsy data
in Venables & Ripley section 10.4 (4th ed.). While V&B did not actually
fit a negative binomial to these data they did refer to evidence
of overdispersion in the response. Fortunately Booth et al. (2003) did
attempt to fit this model with a negative binomial which gave us somethin...
