NUT namespace: RFC for new variable addition
Hi all, here is another variable addition, related to iPDU, that I'd like to make: outlet.group.n.color | Color of outlet group (hex code) | #daa520 For the sake of completion, Eaton ePDU outlet groups are identified with a color code on the device itself: http://powerquality.eaton.com/images/product-images/ePDU/more-images/EMA324-10DaisyChainWith2.jpg Here the first group (A) has a yellow color, and the second group (B) has a blue color. This color is provided by the device throu...

Roadmap to 2.7.3
...t I did not realize it wasn't merged. I think Igor > has done sufficient testing, so do you want to merge it? > > Beside from the known list of tickets for 2.7.3, I had some late additions tied to "Eaton renewed implication in NUT" (ABM and Energy Saving, along with the below ePDU one). Sorry for the lag and lack of communication Charles... I'm still not in the optimal zone... The whole list of remaining things is: - #197: upsc on ePDU show ups.status only (snmp) => DONE That one is tricky: as commented, some devices (such as big ePDU) generates too much info and u...

Adding PDU support to NUT
...a bit on adding PDU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_distribution_unit) support in NUT. Some of you might have seen the Powerman thread, which also deals with adding more PDUs support: http://powerman.sourceforge.net/supported.html The result is that we now have support for 2 Eaton | Powerware ePDUs (Managed and Monitored iirc, check http://www.epdu.com). I plan on adding the 2 other models soon. It is using snmp-ups and I've attached an upsc/upscmd output of the managed unit for info. The patch isn't commited yet, but it's limited to adding a xx-mib.h file, and some doc update. I...

Solar controller?
Hi NUT developers, we rely on NUT to access valuable UPS data for our autonomous telescopes (see http://rts2.org for list, locations are not complete..) . Thanks for a software which does exactly what we need. Now we are starting new era, with installing telescopes on hostile spots without infrastructure. So we will have a solar cells, storing power to batteries during day, to be used during

Newbie question: real-time power usage monitoring?
Hi guys, I'm very new to NUT, and power monitoring in general, so please forgive me if this question is dumb. I'd like to write a Linux app that will know, in approximate real-time, how much power is being drawn by a computer plugged into an outlet. Is NUT well-suited to this usage? And if so, can anyone recommend relatively cheap monitoring hardware (ideally less than $200 US) that

Supporting a DIY UPS with minimal effort but maximum gain
...issed or typos added, and what can be picked up next :) DMF per se is an effort to separate the binary driver from data mappings, in cases where logic remains the same and just the data points differ from device to device (e.g. SNMP OIDs to query for information about different aspects of UPS or ePDU state). This should well apply to USB HID and maybe to nutdrv_qx; a recently added concept of `hwmon` driver (talking to sysfs nodes) is also a good candidate. Initial development in the 42ITy project provided a separate library for DMF general foundations, and build-time changes to the snmp-ups...

Adding power devices support to Fusion Inventory
Dear Fusion Inventory fellows, I've been thinking about working on adding power devices knowledge to inventory systems for years. Following the last Ubuntu Developer Summit, I know have an "excuse" to do so: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-cloud-power-management My below proposition is related to the above blueprint. So please keep in mind that the

Supporting a DIY UPS with minimal effort but maximum gain
Hello, I found out about NUT just days ago while searching for a solution for my home setup. After some digging through the interwebs, I come to you with questions. I'm putting together a DIY 12V UPS, very similar to what this guy did: [1] https://baldpenguin.blogspot.com/2015/10/diy-12v-ups-for-home-network-equipment.html The objective is to keep a bunch of mini PCs and network gear
