Installing Task Views
Hello, I am just beginning to use R, after several years of using S-Plus (with mixed success). I saw a recommendation on another mailing list for the Environmetrics and Spatial Task Views, as a good way for a new user to get started actually using R. The Task Views page at CRAN says: "To automatically install these views, the ctv package needs to be installed, e.g., via install.packages("ctv")and then the views can be installed via install.v...

package DESCRIPTION file and CRAN Task View entries?
...ated guidance to routines and packages." I'm not sure I'm correct about this, but I'm beginning to think there is no connection between the DESCRIPTIONS file and the CRAN Task View entry on the web page. Is that correct? I'd like to add the updated rconifers package to the Environmetrics View. Package rconifers provides a set of forest growth simulators and miscellaneous functions for data analysis in forestry. Since the CRAN Task View is used to help organize the r packages better, help novice users find appropriate packages, and provide information on new packages, is there...

Correspondence analysis with R
Hello everybody, i'm having some trouble performing correspondence analysis with R for Mac OS X. Does anyone know about some useful package? And also, if i had found coordinates of points representing row and column profiles, how do i put them in a single figure with labels identifying each one of them? This thing is getting me almost crazy... Thank you in advance for answering, bye

Using R to read Nortek Aquadopp Profiler
Hello, I have current data from a nortek ADP, which is basically current speed and direction data in a 3 dimensional X Y Z format http://www.nortekusa.com/usa/products/current-profilers/aquadopp-profiler-1 The instrument logs data in a complex way and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using R to at least read the data, and perhaps smooth it as well. If so, are there any

Any R function for self-controlled case series method /effect absorption?
Hello, Has anyone written R functions for applying self-controlled case series methods (http://statistics.open.ac.uk/sccs/). In fact only thing needed is to modify glm function to allow absorption of effect. Eg. in Poisson model individual effect is used as factor, but it is considered as nuisance term where parameter estimates are not needed. Could anyone point how absorbing individual

stochastic models for population growth
Hello, Having measured two populations' characteristics at one particular time[with great precision] with R, I would like to extend this to measuring the same populations starting at t1, and then again at t2, and try to develop a growth model (something like dpop1/dt=r*pop^(...),dpop2/dt=r*pop^(...)). I think the idea is to create a model that will predict the growth of a population(N(mu,

diag() (PR#555)
Full_Name: David Duffy Version: 1.0.1 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (152.98.96.21) Documentation for diag() states that "If x is a vector (or a 1-d array) then diag(x) returns a diagonal matrix whose diagonal is x." > m<-matrix(1:4,ncol=1) > diag(m) [1] 1 diag(as.vector(m)) gives the advertised performance. A simple question??
Dear all, I'm currently use R v0.99 on Windows 98 Second Edition. I have a question on some simple calculations. I wonder that I've done something wrong with the calculation. Here is the imput commands: > a <- 25.01 > b <- 56.08 > a.trunc <- trunc(a) > b.trunc <- trunc(b) > a.tail <- a - a.trunc > b.tail <- b - b.trunc > a.trunc [1] 25 >
