setting enviroment variable
I have a ror project which has been productized. There are several web
sites in one ror project
I need to set an "enviroment variable" to run different sites, can I do
that using mongrel? I tried to use mongrel''s -S option and set the
enviroment variable in that file but it seems mongrel runs that file
after it calls enviroment.rb
I also used apache''s

combination xyplot and barchart?
Dear R community,
I am having trouble determining how to create the graph I want
utilizing my relatively limited knowledge of R. So far I have been
using the lattice library to create most of what I need.
The dataset (enviro) consists of 2 variables (Temp and Precip) for each
Day of a 2-yr period (Year). I wish to display Temp and Precip along
the y axis plotted by Day on the x axis to allow

[Off Topic] Managed desktop virus scanner in Samba 3 Enviroment
Hi,
As we are moving away from an NT based enviroment to SAMBA we are
looking for a managed virus scanner for our desktops. Managed means:
1. Remote deployment
2. Updates from a local repository
3. Notification and reporting.
The existing solutions (Symantec, TrendMicro, Mcafee) assume that you
have an NT server. I would much rather have a Linux/Samba based
managment console.
Any ideas/leads?

Soft Deletes
How would I go about setting up my rails applications to soft delete
items from the database rather than actually deleting it. I would
imagine that I need to over ride the methods from ActiveRecord.
Where would I do this would it be in the model? enviroment.rb? I
would imagine that if i wanted it throughout my entire application it
would need to be in the enviroment.rb.

The rtools is installed in d:\hli\programfiles\Rtools and MinGW in d: \hli\programfiles\MinGW.
The R_HOME is set to d:\hli\programfiles\R-3.2.2.

URGENT problem in production enviroment 3.0.23c-1
Inn the error:
Cannot read or set the permissions for file \\server\share\folder:
initializing the SD failed
Does SD stand for Security Descriptor?
I have a server that doesn't want to make new folders without giving
this error. This only applies to folders!! Files don't give this
message.
I downgraded from 3.0.23c-1 to 3.0.21b-1 but that didn't solve it. It

newer kernels in production enviroment use?
Hello
Does anybody use newer kernels like 2.6.18, 2.6.19 in production
enviroment actually?
For example as vps hosting machine? Whats your experience?
Last week I saw kernel-xen-2.6.20 for openSUSE - has anybody tried it already?

Sincos for X86_64's GNUX32 and ARM's GNUEABI/GNUEABIHF enviroments
Hi,
While writing http://reviews.llvm.org/D20916, I stumbled across some code affecting ARM and X86_64 environments that looks like it might be unintentional. I thought I should ask about it here since that patch has a '[mips]' tag and therefore might not be noticed by someone who knows.
I've noticed that the GNUX32 and GNUEABI/GNUEABIHF environments don't make use of the sincos

Clean enviroments in Wine
...am to work properly in Wine it should be installed in a clean enviroment, something along the lines of one software conflicting with anothers drivers/runtime/apps/etc. Is this true? Does this mean that I can only have one program installed with Wine at a time?
Can one not create several 'fresh enviroments'?

print server performance issues
I'm migrating a 1.000 queues windows print server with AD very critical
enviroment to linux/cups/samba solution. Initially, everything working fine, but
when reached paroximately 400 queues created the server is getting degradated.
The browsing of printers shares is very low. Many times during the day smbd and
winbindd need to be restarted to stop the degradation. I didn't found any

Re: Xen on production enviroment
Hi John,
And an excellent stab that was.
I have two network interfaces. eth0 is a 3Com with a
Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5701 Gigabit Ethernet chip,
and eth1 is a 3Com 3cSOHO100-TX Hurricane chip.
On the gigabit card, I couldn''t test anything, because I could not
find out how to disable/enable/check checksum offloading. Using
ethtool gives: Operation not supported

First I provide you with an example, I found in the newsgroup. Then I'd like to explain my problem to you by means of the output.
