does anyone use the enumports command for anything useful ?
...BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm just wondering if we should remove this enum ports command altogether. Ports are a consemtic concept in Samba for the most port since the printer is really tied to the queue name. But before I think about this anymore is there anyone actually using enumports for something other than #!/bi/sh echo "LPT1:" echo "LPT2:" echo "LPT3:" ? cheers, jerry -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCxCmGIR7qMdg1EfYRAouQAJ9qqpBio3...

failed to call wbcGetpwnam/wbcGetgrnam/wbcGetpwsid WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Hiya, I've run into a problem on a Samba 4.5.8 active directory domain controller. The domain controller seems to work to authenticate against (I have a couple of domain members). However wbinfo throws an error when used locally. My configs are posted at the bottom of the page. # wbinfo -t checking the trust secret for domain SMC via RPC calls succeeded # wbinfo -u <list of domain

Zitat von Rowland penny <rpenny at samba.org>: > This isn't a bug, it is a feature, winbind no longer returns > anything from AD for 'getent passwd', but it will return the info > from 'getent passwd USERNAME' Hi Rowland, thank you for your answer... I think, this is not so fine, but if this is not a bug, but a feature, I cannot do other but accept it...

I have a few different problems with samba 2.2.5 PLEASE HELP
...automated upload did not work for me, I have been trying to make use of imprints. I have been able to successfully create a package, but when I go to use install_print_driver.pl I keep finding that the server lists off no valid ports, not even Samba Printer Port. I even made a script to run with enumports command that echo's "Samba Printer Port", but still have had no luck. What am I doing wrong? 3) Even though my map file is correctly setup and my authentication appears correct as well (I can connect to the box and it map me to the correct UNIX user such that I see my UNIX home direc...

3.3.10 <-> AD 2008 R2 very slow
Hi again, I changed from 3.4.5 to 3.3.10 after an AD upgrade to 2008R2 and prinitng is working mor ore less but it is incredibly sloooow. My server has no remarkable load so it is not due to hardware bottlenecks. Are there any ways to 'tune' 3.3.10 or any tricks to make it faster ? cheers ~christoph -- /* Christoph Beyer | Office: Building 2b / 23 *\ * DESY

Printing W2K net use lpt
...to a lpt port. The capture succeeds, but when the file is copied to lpt2 it never gets printed. There are other machines that can do the capture and copy to the lpt port but they are Win 9x. The files being copied are plot files generated by a cad program. I noticed in the How-To that using enumports might be needed to make using lpt ports work. It's not working though and I'm still getting the same error message. I've just started using disable spoolss = yes but that doesn't seem to help either. All relevant information is below. Any help is appreciated. James Hubbard...

FW: RE: RE: Win2k Printing Problems
...; settings under the "Printers" section (listed above) to servername:printer_queue instead of \\servername\printer_queue It works, but I know it is complete bandaid fix. I would like to know if there is some way to get the real windows port of some sort to be created. I am curious if the enumports command could help me in some way by listing some artifical ports (perhaps of the same name as the real queue on the linux box) and maybe the Win2k will pick this up somehow on an install. -Justin >>> "Van Sickler, Jim" <vansickj-eodc@Kaman.com> 05/15 12:04 PM >>&gt...

Samba/CUPS printing again
...uld not be saved. Access denied" My network username is part of the root group, and I've set the printer admin and domain admin to include it, so I should have the rights to do whatever I want. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? as a side not, does anyone happen to have an enumports script that I can use? I'm not a script writer, so I would have any idea where to start. permission issues
Here is the situation. I have setup a samba server to authenticate against Active Directory. I have created a group under my Linux server and created all the accounts that need to access the share and placed them in the Linux group on the samba server. I gave the group full rights to the samba share, but when a user from the group adds to the samba share a file or directory he or she now owns
