Using a data frame to create a legend
Hi,
I am currently in the process of translating a large script from S-Plus over
to R. It's going well so far and all the high level stuff is working fine,
but as they say 'the devil is in the details' and my low level stuff is
struggling. Specifically, I have enountered a problem translating from key()
to legend(); in splus I was able to create a tables of statistics (AUCs and
averages that I had calculated earlier in the script) that lined up with the
key using bits of script as simple as:
key( text=list(temp.cd),
text=list(temp.a),
text=list(temp.b),

kernel oops/IRQ exception when networking between many domUs
Hi,
I try to build experimental networks with Xen and stumbled over the same

Ctrl-C problem on HP-UX
Hello OpenSSH Developers,
I have been working on developeing an OpenSSH SD package for
HP-UX 10.20 and HP-UX 11.00 to deploy on servers we manage.
Unfortenately, I have enountered the ctrl-c problem which
manifests when the daemon is started in non-interactive
mode (in this case from the SD Daemon). When I manually
stop/start the daemon, the ctrl-c functionality works.
I have dug through the archives and found the work Garrick

9.1-RC3 problems with Creative Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] audio
...hed to Creative Audigy 2 ZS [SB0350] PCI audio
card from SoundBlaster Live! The new audio device although using the
same kernel driver have some problems with audio/video streams - sound
does not resemble original at all and the video player hangs (until
audio buffer is flushed I guess). Did anyone enountered similar
problem? I guess there is something wrong with audio format/samplerate
conversion...?
Best regards,
Tomek

Problems with Steam (counter-strike)
Hi everyone,
I recently switched to Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) GNU/Linux. I installed
wine 0.9.9 using Synaptic package manager, and then downloaded
steamInstall.exe from http://www.steampowered.com. The installation
worked more or less (at first, it occupied progressively (according to
the system monitor widgets on the panel) all the free space in my
/home/~ (1,2 Gb), all the swap space (1Gb)

Nulls instead of data

Strace shows that result value from read system call seems to be

In more detail:
I am quite often using rsync as a replacement for cp (because of --bwlimit
option not present in cp).
The error I enountered with many versions of rsync, including 2.6.6
happens if I try to copy a a files from a remote filesystem mounted
on linux smbfs. The NT 4.0 computer sharing the data is on a very slow and
unstable link, so unstable, in fact, that I cannot get larger files

2.0.6/Sol. 251/NTW4 - Drive mapping anomaly
Has anyone seen the following anomaly?
When I first connect to the Samba server, I run a logon script that maps
5 shares to drives F,G,H,L,M.
Some time later, when I check "My Computer", I find that the share
mapped to H: has been mapped to all the remaining drive letters as well!
For example, after I mount /users on G: and /programs on H:, I'll notice
at some point later that I
