IAX encrytion
What encryption features are available to encrypt the IAX2 traffic between two asterisk servers. I have read that there is some encryption possible but has anyone been able to encrypt the entire payload of IAX traffic between two asterisk servers. regards, John

per share encrytion
Hello all, i'm consulting this list bcs i found nothing on the web. I' looking for a software that acts as a fileserver, but encrypts all files transparently for the user on share level. So secret documents can be protected against unauthorized access even from administrators (exept the admin controling user access of course) but can be easily accessed from authorized groups. I thing

password change using XP
I see on the list that it is possible to change the samba password using ctrl-alt-del in windows. It looks to me that there are two senarios where this can take place. 1) when windows box and samba server is a domain member or PDC 2) and/or encrytion is turned off on the windows box and possibly no domain membership at all. This what I have been trying to do. No domains at all. Where XP has

Synchronising NT, unix and Samba passwords
...nix system and change the unix and samba passwords manually to match the new NT password. I've been looking through all the websites on Samba but nothing has helped. I've done all sorts of amendments to the smb.conf file (including setting encrypt passwords = yes, security = user and update encryted = yes). Should the unix and samba passwords be automatically updated or i'm i trying to do something that you can't do. We're using NT4 and Unix (Sun Solaris 8). The Samba version is 2.0.5a. I'm implementing a way around this by allowing the users to log into the unix system to chan...

booting gbde-encrypted filesystem
Hello, I think there was already a thread on this. I just want to raise the question again if anyone has successfully booted an gdbe-encrypted filesystem (everything encrypted except the bootloader). The passphrase is entered at the bootloader prompt or embedded in the bootloader. I appreciate any tips. Thanks, - ronnel

Anyone resolved "failed to lock SMB passwd file"?
Hi all. I'm experiencing long connect delays due to password file locking errors. For each connection samba logs the following errors: do_pw_lock: failed to lock SMB passwd file. mod_smbpwd_entry: unable to lock file /usr/local/samba-1.9.18p10/private/smbpasswd In the archives I found some other messages reporting the problem (on May this year), but no solution. The binaries have been created for PA-RISC 2.0 supporting 64Bit mode. The SAMBA has been configured to use securty = server. Password servers has been 'defined'. Dual Authentication methods?
...ld it be easier to just create a Unix account for everyone and use Unix groups to manage all the access rights? I'm thinking this might be the easiest way to go, and skip all NT interaction all together! Also, what about encrypted passwords? Is there a way to do *both* cleartext password and encryted password authentication simultaneously? I don't want to muck with the NT workstations, but by the same token, I have no desire to move the unix environment to Kerberos. Winbindd+W2K+NT+Pam+Samba 2.2.3a+Solaris
Hi - I have been attempting to set up Samba to do authentication against a Windows 2K Domain Controller as well as NT PDCs. I have installed Winbindd, Samba, and compiled with PAM and updated my smb.conf, pam.conf file and the other stuff in the installation guide. The objective of all of this is to allow an application running on top of Solaris to authenticate the users logging into the

Strange behaviour with domain login
Hi there, I have Samba 1.9.18p18 installed on Linux (S.u.S.E. 5.3). It is configured to act as a domain controler for the Windoze machines. One of my users, which can login from his Win95 (plain text password) without problems, wants to change his password from the Control Panel. But every time when he logs out after changing his password and re-logs in, the new password is refused by the

IPSEC tunnel up, but no traffic coming through
Hi all, I finally got my IPSec tunnel from my Fedora firewall system (running Shorewall 4.0.6) to a remote Draytek Router up-and-running, but I''m having difficulties directing traffic through the tunnel. From the output of "racoon -F -f racoon.conf" and the connection status page of the Draytek I can tell the tunnel is UP, but ping and traceroute requests to several hosts

samba 3.0.0 Authentication with NTsp4
We have been running Samba 2.2.x for some time without problems. Servers are Solaris 2.7 and RH Linux. Clients are a mix of WinNTsp4 and Win2K. Server setting is for plaintext (un-encryted passwords). On upgrading the Samba server to 3.0.0, (smb.conf file unchanged): All WinNt clients fail to authenticare. Win2k clients authenticate correctly. On reverting back to Samba 2.2.x, all cleints authenticate correctly. The same symptoms are obseved, independent of wheter the underlying OS...
