svn and ruby structure
...code and I don''t want to ''commit'' until I''ve protected some of the other files. Is it better to just create separate repositories for app and public directories or is there a way to tell svn to exclude config, root level, and log folders while keeping the whole enchilada? I ask because as I''m reading the svnbook.red-book.com stuff, nothing is jumping out at me. Craig

OT Linux/Gateway alternative for WAN compression/accelerator
I''m building a 10 branch/1 headquarter network with Shorewall/Linux as gateway on all locations. The TI guy asked me if there is a way to ''cache'' TCP/UDP traffic between them. I crawled on Internet and I only find very expensive solutions for this. Some of them appeared in this comparison article: http://www.networkcomputing.com/showitem.jhtml?docid=1524f5 Does anyone

rubynuby == I''m a''scared to set it all up...
I''ve been mostly lurking here with an occasional nuby question for a few weeks now. It seems like Ruby and Rails and the many libraries and tools growing up around it are a remarkable toolset. Unfortunately I''m finding the whole enchilada a bit daunting. It seems that if one is to truly tap into the power of this thing and do a significant amount of developing, one needs to start with Ruby and/or RoR (in my case on a Mac with TextMate). One also needs to figure out how to use subversion to track code changes. One also needs to...

mtext uses the typographical descender to align text
<> Hello One sometimes (quite often really ) marvel at the choice of defaults in R's graphic engine. For some obscure reason, mtext uses the typographical descender (bottom of letters) to align text. That is: "gG" will end up slightly higher that "GG". Depending on the font, "Q" might end up higher than "O". (for explanation of baseline

[BioC] RCurl loading problem with 64 bit linux distribution
Martin, Well, thanks for jumping in! We need all the help we can get ;) I changed the execute bit as you suggested and recompiled, no luck, still the same error message. Below is the output you wanted me to look at, its a bit beyond me so I include both a brief grep summary and then the whole enchilada. I do note that my output is different from yours, but I'm not sure how to interpret. I also thought about removing curl from my system, but when starting to do so with Synaptic, it looked like if I removed libcurl I would trash an awful lot of my system. I did download and install the latest...
