here's a fix for Goldmine (and other ISAM database based programs) on Windows NT/2000/XP clients talking to samba
...rs.)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Opportunistic locking turned off on the Windows XP client in this way:
Start-Run->(type in) RegEdt32
navigate to
\Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
new Key or type DWORD
name "EnableOplocks"
leave value at default 0.
navigate to
\Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManWorkstation\Parameters
new Key or type DWORD
name "EnableOplocks"
leave value at default 0.
Close rededt32 and reboot.

Oplocks and Office 2000 SP3

the
file and I try to save.
If use Wordpad or something else, It'll works fine.
on the smb.conf:
level2 oplocks = yes
oplocks = yes
veto oplock files = /*.doc/*.xls/*.mdb/*.DOC/*.XLS/*.MDB/*.TMP/*.tmp/
I read official samba how-to but never happened when changed the
parameters: EnableOplocks, ecc...

I disabled kernel oplocks, oplocks and level2 oplocks but it doesn't

Re: Sage oplocks
...----------------------------
The following registry entries on Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2000
Professional and Windows NT4 workstation clients must be configured as
shown here:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
"EnableOplocks"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters]
"UseOpportunisticLocking"=dword:00000000

Sage is proving to be a pain in general

Files Updates
Hi,
I have an Informix program that unload data to a file in a samba directory.
Problem is although the file has changed, I still see the old data from my
Windows 98 SE PC. I only see the updated data after refreshing the snmba
directory numerous times. Sometimes I have to wait for more that 10 minutes !!
Funny thing is this problem does not apply to my friend's PC.
Why is this so and

[Samba 4.0.9 | Win 7 x64 | Office 2007 x86 | Folder Redirection | Local Cache] : Word-documents, Corrupt
Hello,
First of all I would like to thank the Samba Project Group for this state
of the art software. I would like to thank every body for helping each
other out.
Please ignore my poor English writing. It is not my native language.
Although: I do the best I can.
We use Samba for a while now. We started with version 4.0.6 and updated
each time. Now we are at version 4.0.9 and we are planning to

"Delayed Write Failed" and other similar errors on Windows machines
...of the main things I have tried to fix it:
In Windows XP Pro SP1, I have tried setting the registry entries for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\...
Memory Management\SystemPages
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanserver\...
Parameters\{EnableOplocks|EnableSecuritySignature)
but with no effect. I also made sure that there were adequate
permissions, as evidenced by the fact that the second attempts
would succeed.
In Samba, I changed/added the following and many other variations
with no effect:

use sendfile = yes/no

Maximum samba file transfer speed on gigabit...
Ok so maybe someone can explain this to me. I've been banging my head
against the wall on this one for several weeks now and the powers that be
are starting to get a little impatient. What we've got is an old FoxPro
application, the FoxPro .dbf's being stored on a Linux fileserver using
Samba (Fedora 3 currently, using Fedora 5 on the new test server). We're
