how to generate a random data from a empirical distribition
hi, this is more a statistical question than a R question. but I do want to know how to implement this in R. I have 10,000 data points. Is there any way to generate a empirical probablity distribution from it (the problem is that I do not know what exactly this distribution follows, normal, beta?). My ultimate goal is to generate addition 20,000 data point from this empirical distribution created

Drawing from an empirical distribution
Hi All, Does anybody know if there is a simple way to draw numbers from an empirical distribution? I know that I can plot the empirical cumulative distribution function this easy: plot(ecdf(x)) Now I want to pick a number between 0 and 1 and go back to domain of x. Sounds simple to me. Any suggestion? Thank you, Your culprit (everybody needs a culprit) -- View this message in context:

empire total war stuck at startup (copyright) page
Hi, This is my second day since owning empire total war. Really looking forward to playing it, but I have not. I'm using the latest wine program. I follow the winehq 's description for installing empire total war (installing d3dx9, changing registry, placing MSVCP80.dll at system32 and winecfg). Now, I'm stuck at the startup page (where all the copyright details are). Loading stops

(R) Using arguments for the empirical cumulative distribution function
Hi, I have just started using R. Now I have the following problem: I want to create an Empirical Cumulative Distribution Function and I only came so far: F10 <- ecdf(x) plot(F10, verticals= TRUE, do.p = TRUE, lwd=3) x=c(1.6,1.8,2.4,2.7,2.9,3.3,3.4,3.4,4,5.2) Now I'd like to use arguments such as xlabs and main but I don't know how to integrate them. I hope someone can help me, I am

Probability of data values form empirical distribution
Hello,   Could someone help me please and to tell how to get the probability from empirical distribution (not parametric) for each data value (R function). For example, for normal distribution there is such a function like:   “pnorm(q, mean = 0, sd = 1, lower.tail = TRUE, log.p = FALSE)”   I need the same function only for the empirical distribution (which does not correspond to any typical

wine command line arguments
Hi All; I have just successfully installed Microsoft: Age of Empires II, Age of Empires II-Conquerors expansion, Age of Empires III on Wine 1.3.7. No dll overides, no pissing about nothing, just dropped in the CD, mapped it to using winecfg and installed. Empires II installed directly from disk and would not run after the install until I applied the no_Cd_patch and not are fine. AoEIII has 3

empirical (sandwich) SE estimate in lme ()?
Is it possible to get the empirical (sandwich) S.E. estimates for the fixed effects in lme () (thus allowing possibly correlated errors within the group)? In SAS you can get it by the 'empirical' option to PROC MIXED. Cheers, Michael -- Na (Michael) Li, Ph.D. Division of Biostatistics A443 Mayo Building, MMC 303 School of Public Health 420 Delaware

Empirical copula in R
Hi, I would like to implement the empirical copula in R, does anyone know if it is included in a package? I know it is not in the "Copula" package. This one only includes a gof-test based on the empirical copula process. Thanks for your help! Unable to start Empire: Total War
I've just installed Empire: Total War without any hiccups (It is validated and runs through Steam). However, When I try to launch the game it just hangs with a window saying "Launching Empire: Total war" for ages without any apparent progress. I would post the terminal output but I do not know how to for games that run through steam. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in
