Query about emphasis
Hello List,
Firstly, I was very impressed when I tried markdown 2.0 recently. Fantastic
work all!
I have a query about the treatment of emphasis.
I realise that the horse has bolted, and changes to currently supported
functionality are unlikely to attract support. However, there does seem (at
least in my tiny mind) to be a mis-match between the following stated goal
and the present implementation of emphasis:

Emphasis or Italic?
What's the difference between:

It seems to subtle for my browsers.
The only "difference" I've been able to find is that according to the

Spaced text
Hi eveybody!
I've got a suggestion to think about. Although i think that the drawbacks are bigher than the advantages im goong to tell you abou my idea:
My idea is another syntax for e m p h a s i z e d words. It uses two spaces before and after the emphasized part and alternating space and letter in between, just like in the sentence before.
Pros:
? no symbol needed
? granny compatible ;) similar look as on old typwritten texts
? emphasis visible in raw text
? extensible with * or _ for * s t r o n g * emphasis
Cons:
? cant be searched for easily...

[PATCH 0/6] drm: Provide a simple encoder
Many DRM drivers implement an encoder with an empty implementation. This
patchset adds drm_simple_encoder_init() and drm_simple_encoder_create(),
which can be used by drivers instead. Except for the destroy callback, the
simple encoder's implementation is empty.
The patchset also converts 4 encoder instances to use the simple-encoder
helpers. But there are at least 11 other drivers which can

[LLVMdev] Question about documentation of BitCast CExps.
...://llvm.org/docs/LangRef.html], we have
the section [#aggregateconstants] telling us that the aggregate
constants are:
* Structure constants
* Array constants
* Vector constants
* Zeroinitialization
However, in [#constantexprs] we have a bitcast(CST, TYPE) operator
with the documentation (emphasis by me):
Convert a constant, CST, to another TYPE. The size of CST and TYPE
must be identical (same number of bits). The conversion is done as if
the CST value was stored to memory and read back as TYPE. In other
words, no bits change with this operator, just the type. {{{This can

PHP Markdown 1.0.1m & Extra 1.2.2
Here's another update to PHP Markdown and PHP Markdown Extra featuring
some bug fixes.
See the download link on the project's page:
<http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/>
This update also features a new emphasis parser which process regular
and strong emphasis in one pass instead of two and four for previous
versions of PHP Markdown and PHP Markdown Extra. The new parser is
also faster and easier to change if the logic needs to be adjusted. It
works by using context-dependent composition of a regu...

[feat request] flag for CD de-emphasis
I just found out about CD emphasis, a redbook feature that was sometimes
used in mastering to reduce noise with historic 14-bit ADCs that did not
over-sample and had noisy brick-wall.
I haven't gone through all my CDs but so far, only my Tom Petty
"Southern Accents" from 1985 seems to have it.

best way to use emphasis within code?
I want to use fixed font like a code block but also use italics and bold
at same time.
For example in HTML:
<tt>$ <b>mail -u <i>user</i></b></tt>
What is the best way to do this in markdown, especially if I have several
lines of content that needs to be spaced out correctly?
Thanks

Markdown use by newspapers?
Does anyone know of any larger newspapers or publishing companies
that use Markdown? Several times I've noticed glitches in web page
articles, posted at larger newspapers, where emphasis has been
indicated by underlines and have wondered.

Any android source client for icecast ?
...bin/shineenc to
/system/bin.
On my low-end HTC, however, encoding is not real-time, which is a bit
disappointing:
$ shineenc bla.wav bla.mp3
shineenc (Liquidsoap version)
WAV PCM DATA, stereo 44100Hz 16bit, Length: 0: 0:18
MPEG-I layer III, stereo Psychoacoustic Model: Shine
Bitrate=128 kbps De-emphasis: none Original
Encoding "bla.wav" to "bla.mp3"
Finished in 0: 0:20
If anyone else feels like testing on another ARM android phone, I'll
be interested to know if the encoder may be used to encode to mp3 in
real time...

Extra markdown suggestions
...P "Markdown Extra"
implementation to programmatically transform my markdown text files into
HTML. Firstly I'd like to say markdown is very cool -- thanks to everyone
involved :)
I'd also like to suggest two additions to markdown:
1) I very often use /this/ markdown to indicate emphasis since I find it
much easier to type and read than _this_ or *this*.
2) I also use additional setext style headers like this:
Header 1
XXXXXXXX
Header 2
xxxxxxxx
Header 3
========
Header 4
++++++++
Header 5

Whether or not these suggestions would be a worthwhile addition to the
