fan_fucking_tastic
While I empathize with your predicament, I generally prefer not to have expletives in my inbox. Also, what has this to do with markdown? On Jul 5, 2013 7:20 PM, "bowerbird" <bowerbird at aol.com> wrote: > fan_fucking_tastic. > > somebody hit another one of the dead skunks on this road. >...

Getting a user from a model (sort of a noob) (resend sorry)
Sorry for the resend but I am not sure if the first one ever made the list. As mentioned in my previous posts I''m trying to create a dynamic directory for file_folumn. After finding out that I didn''t have the most recent version I installed the latest trunk and am able to get file_column to act as it should. However I have been racking my brain on how to implement

Performance problem w/ Rake on MS SQL 2000 1-GB database
Hello all, I have a legacy 1Gb MS SQL 2000 database in production. A copy of this is my dev db. rake prepare_test_database on this database takes 20+ minutes. Can someone PLEASE tell me if there is a solution to improving the prepare time for this DB ? Thank you thank you thank you in advance! -- ------------------------------ me in you, you in me - the primal empathic mirror in all of us.

[sourceforge.net abuse] New JAVA application server for Asterisk - OrderlyCalls
...th the OSI definition: Usage Restrictions In addition to the restrictions of the LGPL, the following restrictions apply: ... OrderlyCalls may not be used to provide or augment call queuing without the prior written permission of Orderly Software. While I understand your motivation and empathize with the plight of open-source business, unfortunately you must either: a) remove this restriction - or - b) remove your project from sourceforge.net Please take action soon so that this matter does not need to be escalated to the sourceforge.net admins. - a

/var/run/... being deleted :((
...gt; broken because > services don?t start. You've received a lot of advice, criticism, and information from this original post, and I'm not going to rehash any of those things.? If you're not expecting it,the current CentOS 7 behavior could easily be jarring, to say the least.? I empathize with your situation; the release notes are large, dense, and it's easy to miss something that has been changed, like this behavior (or like the need to 'yum downgrade' a packge to get a 'yum update' to complete). However, whether we like it or not, CentOS is a rebuild of the...

alias :calling :lambda
Sprinkling my examples with ''lambda'' has always seemed like a bit of a wart to me. I''ve gotten into the habit of adding ''alias :calling :lambda'' to my spec suites. My examples then look like: calling { Foo }.should raise_error calling { Bar }.should_not raise_error Is there a reason that RSpec core has chosen not to make exception expectations more

RE: Appending <tr>''s to Table - Images in <tr>''sloading slowly.
I have also experienced erratic image "non"-caching by IE in my projects (seemingly related specifically to AJAX/DOM manipulated nodes as you are seeing)... I tried preloading the icon images in body onload in global variables, then using those global variables to access the images... no luck. ...I have no idea why IE sometimes has to download these images that it SHOULD have in its

New to rails
Hi, I''m 8+ hours reading and working through the book "Agile Web Development". My brain is now mush :) I have some php experience but that about the extent of my programming experience. Anyway, I do have a question - for those who know the book or those who don''t - The product table has a column for an image link ..i.e. /images/something.gif As part of the exercise

/var/run/... being deleted :((
Hi, what keeps deleting files and directories under /var/run? Having them deleted is extremely annoying because after a reboot, things are suddenly broken because services don?t start.

...eel that specifically eliminating this 'grey area' as early as possible in the development process is therefore to everyone's benefit, hence the restriction. I really don't expect we'll be witholding permission very often, if ever. >While I understand your motivation and empathize with the plight of >open-source business, unfortunately you must either: > > a) remove this restriction > > - or - > > b) remove your project from sourceforge.net > >Please take action soon so that this matter does not need to be >escalated to the sourcefo...

Lack of support of Stored Procedures is a Show Stopper
In my opinion most mature/complex client/server or n-tier applications using SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL, use stored procedures. Without support (except by use of the execute method) for Stored Procedures, Ruby on Rails or MonoRail is a Show Stopper. We are unable to effectively use Ruby On Rails as all access to the db is using Stored Procedures. This does not mean that we are unable to use

RFC: Second draft of an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
...e community. But to understand the major reasons, consider someone who is seriously concerned about whether they will be safe and respected in the community. These people do exist, both already in our community and as potential newcomers (see the links above). You may not be one of them, but try to empathize. These people can look to a list of explicitly called out unacceptable behavior, find many of their concerns already addressed, and learn that they will indeed be safe and welcome. For groups and behaviors where this is a long standing and widespread problem *for them*, this can be the difference b...

Advocating RoR in the enterprise?
Hi folks, I''m looking for advice on how to promote RoR in my workplace. Specifically, I''d like to work out a strategy for promoting development in Rails as a new alternative to our existing technology (the usual suspects... mostly Java/Oracle, .NET, PHP, and a bit of Perl here and there). Some background: I work for a fairly large state environmental agency as a web developer.
