rpool to use emcpower device
...let me say that this is not true
while booting and additionally, I tried off-lining that path and I almost
had a cardiac arrest when the rpool became corrupted. Fortunately, it just
affected a couple of log files that no one will miss. :)
The question then is, how can I make the rpool to use the emcpower0a device
instead of the c3t5***d0s0 Solaris native device?
I filed a case with EMC and Oracle, but the first one lacks ZFS knowledge
and the second one says that it''s an EMC issue.
I can boot the server from a DVD-ROM to do some changes without the pool''s
datasets being mounted,...

zfs questions from Sun customer
...f extdisk c5t0d0 c5t1d0 ......
Let me know if this works for you.
************* follow-up question from customer ************
Yes, using the c#t#d# disks work, but anyone using fibre-channel storage
on somethink like IBM Shark or EMC Clariion will want multiple paths to
disk using either IBMsdd, EMCpower or Solaris native MPIO. Does ZFS
work with any of these fibre channel multipathing drivers?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

ZFS with EMC PowerPath
On some machines running PowerPath, there''s sometimes issues after an update/upgrade of the PowerPath software. Sometimes the pseudo devices get remapped and change names. ZFS appears to handle it OK, however sometimes it then references half native device names and half the emcpower pseudo device names. So the SA can easily be confused.
Is there a way to tell ZFS which device names to use? Is there a way to change which devices are referenced in a current pool?
I know about the "-d" option to zpool, however to use the names in /dev/dsk can lead to unpredictable r...

ZFS and powerpath
...UNAVAIL cannot open
Now, it''s working up to the point at which it''s worked out that
the bits of the pool are in the right places. It just can''t open
all the bits. Why is that?
I notice that it''s using the underlying cXtXdX device names
rather than the virtual emcpower{0,1} names. However, rather
more worrying is that if I try to create a new pool, then it correctly
fails if I use the cXtXdX device (warning me that it contains
part of a pool) but if I go through the emcpower devices
then I don''t get a warning.
(One other snippet - the cXtXdX device node...

How to mount OCFS2 file systems using the EMC Power Path multipath device
OEL 5, OCFS 1.4, using EMC Power Path for multi pathing.
I want t mount the OCFS2 file system on the emc power path device.
I can mount by UUID, and not have to worry about persistent bindings across
nodes.
But how do I make sure when it mounts by UUID , that the pwoer path device
is used.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

problem with OCFS label
I used this command to create volume label on OCFS:
mkfs.ocfs -F -b 128 -L data13 -m /oradata/data13 -u oracle -g dba -p 0775 /dev/emcpowerp1
emcpowerp is composed of /dev/sdad and /dev/sdk. It seems the above command created the same labels for /dev/emcpowerp1, /dev/sdad1 and /dev/sdk1.
But when I tried to mount this ocfs filesystem by label, it gave me the following error.
