ERROR: chroot failed
I am trying to use rsync to transfer some directories from a RedHat 7.0 box
to a RedHat 7.1 rsync server via a cron job.
The cron command line:
00 00 * * * /usr/local/bin/emailbackup > /tmp/backup.log 2>&1; mail -s
"Rsync Backup Log" my@emailaddres < /tmp/backup.log
The 7.1 rsyncd.cond;
[home]
path = /home/brad/data/emailbackup
read only = no
uid = root
gid = root
The 7.0 client command:
rsync -avt /home homeserver::home
The emailed log file:
building...

owner and group permission
...ver itself which causes these linux distros unable to
save files and giving the "read-only" access.

Accessing maildir snapshots through dovecot
...ntly trying to render the storage snapshots available through
dovecot (to allow my users to browse their mail history).
dovecot.conf:
namespace {
inbox = yes
location =
prefix = INBOX.
type = private
}
I did the following modifications:
dovecot.conf:
namespace snaps-h0 {
prefix = INBOX.EmailBackup.h0.
hidden = no
list = yes
inbox = no
location = maildir:/home/.snapshot/hourly.0/%u/Maildir:INDEX=/var/tmp/dovecot/indexes/hourly.0/%u:CONTROL=/var/dovecot/control/hourly.0/%u
type = private
}
Problem:
I don't see the content of the inbox folder contained in the snapshots
(subfolde...

Rsync permissions...
I am transferring some files from a RH7.0 machine to a RH7.2 machine as root
with a cron job, using the following:
rsync -avt /home homeserver::home
rsync -avt /etc homeserver::etc
Some of the files transfer OK, but I get:
building file list ... done
failed to set permissions on home : Operation not permitted
home/brad/
home/ftp/bin/
home/ftp/etc/
home/ftp/pub/
home/rsyncuser/
failed to set

Recipe for "admin-less restore"
Is there a way for setting up dovecot in such a way that a user can
"jump back in time" to an old mailbox "state" in order to retrieve his
accidentially deleted mail?
