Hi all, I moved from 8.0-RELEASE to last week's -STABLE:

em watchdog timeout on UP, 6-stable
Updated my Athlon-xp 6-stable system last night, got an em watchdog
timeout for the first time a few hours later, during a fairly
high-traffic period. System is UP but does have device apic in
the config. Any chance this is the recent race condition?
Workaround? ifconfig em0 down, ifconfig em0 up seemed to cure it,
at least for the moment.
Thanks,
Barney Wolff

em interface slow down on 8.0R
Hi,
I noticed that network connection of one of my boxes got
significantly slow just after upgrading it to 8.0R. The box has an
em0 (82547EI) and worked fine with 7.2R.
The symptoms are:
- A ping to a host on the same LAN takes 990ms RTT, it reduces
gradually to around 1ms, and then it returns to around 1s. The
rate was about 2ms/ping.
- The response is quite slow, but no packet loss and network services

Kernel panic - em0 culprit?
Hello,
My server is experiencing occasional kernel panics when under moderate
load. I'm attaching a crash dump and the dmesg output. I'm not sure how
to read the kernel backtrace but it looks like the Intel NIC (em0)
caused the problem. Occasionally, I used to get a "em0: watchdog timeout
-- resetting" error message, but I never had a kernel panic. The problem
started last week when I updated the server to the latest 7-STABLE. Can
anyone help pinpoint the problem?
Thanks,
Yani

kernel panic on em0/taskq
Hello,
i'm experiencing periodic kernel panics on a server with FreeBSD

My big problem is that the system is not performing memory dumping
and/or automatic reoboot,
it just stays there.

nnamp question
Hi:
I have a machine with four interfaces connecting four
different networks. I am learning to use nmap and
trying to force the nmap working only one interface.
As nmap man page states, I use -e option and it would
not work:
nmap -e fx0 -v -sP 192.168.128.0/23
Starting Nmap 3.95 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ )

10.0-BETA3 em/nfe drivers on MSI K9NBPM2-FID board. LAN card changes.
Hi,
I have a server at Hetzner and something strange happend.
First, I installed FreeBSD 10.0-BETA3 (amd64) via their FreeBSD
9.2-RELEASE rescue system, that's ok.
I had to configure the network by using the em driver -> em0 interface.
But suddenly, the network was lost.
After an ACPI reboot, nothing. Going to the vKVM show me the system
didn't detected em0 anymore but an nVidia (nfe driver) card!
Here is the hardware:

Here is a partial dmesg:

System hangs up every day
Hello everybody
Unfortunately my problem still doesn't have any solution.
But I have an interesting observation. The gateway freezes very quickly, if torrent client programs are running on workstations.
I assume the cause of the problem consists in many number of TCP/IP connections that torrent client establishes.
Any ideas?
Maybe I can tune somehow a TCP/IP via kernel, sysctl or pf settings?

Panics and freeze using age0
...5Q motherboard.
Such board comes with an nic requiring age0 driver.
When the nic is under load, such trasferring big amount of data
over gigabit connection (let's say some gigabyte backups),
the computer hangs, sometimes with panic, sometimes freezing.
Before that i was using an Intel nic with em0 driver
and 7.0-Stable#2.. and that configuration was really stable.
Looking at the backtrace we found that the page fault happened
during pmap operations (sorry I've not the backtrace anymore to attach
to this mail).
Another problem with age0 driver was that when the machine boot, the nic

CentOS 5.6 x86_64 hosting unreachable Virtualbox 4.0.6 bridged guests

The dhcp server log tells : DHCPDISCOVER from 08:00:xx:xx:xx:xx via

When changing from dhcp to static ip in the CentOS guest, 'service
network restart' does not report any errors, but the guest keeps
unreachable from the outside : pinging the guest works some times, but

nested variables
Hi all!
I have quation: how i may use nested variables/facts? For example, I
have variable $iface. It''s variable declared in node brakets, and, use
with defenition. iface may be eth0, eth1(Linux), em0, ...
<freebsd>, ...
is fact:
facter | grep eth0 | grep mac
macaddress_eth0 => 54:52:00:3D:CB:40
We don''nt know name of $iface in our module (to generate network
settings), how we may use nested variables/facts? Syntax:
$mac = ${$macaddress_${iface}}
Does''nt work.
