LDAP Filter Problem
...ged Samba version 2.999+3.0 and am
using the samba.schema for my LDAP database.
Whenever I try to join the network using either W2K or smbclient the LDAP
debug log shows that the following filter is being used:
....
Jan 24 12:32:01 boo slapd[14586]: filter:
(&(objectClass=posixAccount)(uid=ELUCIDATION\5CROOT))
....
So the problem is that the domain name is being prefixed to the userid but
my LDAP database only wants a userid. I thought the "ldap filter" parm in
smb.conf might allow me to change this, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks i...

data.frame into list by columns; merge and row.names
Hi
a)
I want to make a list out of a data.frame, where each element of the
list is a column of the data.frame.
I looked in the archives and saw a lot of postings but surprsingly
none elucidated me. I also tried the split, aggregate help files and
counldn't see any easy way to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if
it's there, but I really didn't see it.
I solved the problem

Post Hoc tests for ANOVA
Hi,
I was trying to figure out how to do post-hoc tests for Two Way ANOVAs and
found the following 2 approaches:
a. Do pairwise t-tests (bonferroni corrected) if one finds significance with
the ANOVA.

...9;t work out what has caused this,
or what the cure is.
I haven't changed postfix or dovecot config files,

I did stop and re-start postfix and dovecot on the server,
which I haven't done for some time,
so it is possible some earlier upgrade has come into play.
Any advice or elucidation gratefully received.

Use of the command 'replicate'
Dear R users,
I'd like to ask u whether you know how to sort out the following:
I'm trying to reproduce a dataset of clusters, and for that I need to build
up a cluster index (inside a function) using the command "replicate" as
follows:
dataset<- function(
clusters=100,
cluster.size=50,
outcome.mean=list(mean=3, sd=1),
outcome.var=list(mean=0, sd=1),

Kendall v MannKendall Functions
Hi,
I am running a correlation analysis on a temporal dataset. I was wondering
if you would receive the same tau and p values running the function:
MannKendall(x), where x is the dependant variable that changes with time
as you would running:
Kendall(d,x), where x is the exact same dataset as the x entered into
MannKendall and d is the date on which the observation was made (assuming

Terminology: Multiple Regression versus multivariate Regression

Is multiple regression perhaps more related to GLM

Thanks for elucidations on that topic.

omitting 0 degrees (pi/4, pi/2, 3pi/4, omitting 0). If I specify 0

Windows R-3.0.0 and Tcl/tkrplot issue
Greetings R Developers,
I've been testing the alpha release of R-3.0.0 and I noticed that the plotting functionality in package tkrplot was not working correctly.
Further diagnosis found the issue to be related to the command '.Tcl("image create Rplot plotname")' from package "tkrplot".
The following example is taken from here:

rounding and the fact I am using R 1.6.2 and Crawley used S+).
My problem is: as *Treatment* is a fixed factor, why should I put it in
both the fixed term side and random terms side of my code to get the right
numbers? I fail to get this at all. Any elucidation would be appreciated.

Problems with Windows 7 on domain, Samba server not

issue.
