NT username/password export
Sorry for all the newbie questions... I could have sworn I saw something about a utility that exports the SAM database from NT into Linux.. seems like it is the lego syndrome, saw it while doing WINBIND searches, can't find it elsewise...anyway...could someone point me in the right direction? I want to export my users from NT to linux with passwords....if that is impossible, I also have all the users passwords encrypted and sync'd on the webserver as MD5 hash...I can easily make a text file of those username/pasword pairs an...

[PATCH] utils/isohybrid.c: usage text change, s/AFP/APM/
...;fseeko' change. I was looking at http://git.kernel.org/cgit/boot/syslinux/syslinux.git which is what Google brings up on "syslinux git" and looks quite official. Now i wonder about +#define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64 after it was already done in Makefile some time earlier. Luckily, elsewise my local copy was up to date. > > [statements about off_t and fseeko(3)] > Please convert that into patches to the mailinglist. I got six patches now. The end version compiles and can run standalone without hardcoded MBRs. I will make some repacking tests with a Fedora image. Would dif...

rsyncing from a compressed tarball.
Mike, As it stands right now, we use xz for our compression, so if rsync had a similar option for xz that would probably be an improvement. However, I think being able to decompress directly to the remote system would save more; elsewise I don't see how I'm going to be able to avoid untarring and uncompressing the whole xz file on the other end. thanks much, ed On Tue, Dec 6, 2016 at 8:36 PM, Mike Hodson <mystica at gmail.com> wrote: > On Tue, Dec 6, 2016 at 8:07 PM, Ed Peschko <horos22 at gmail.com> wrote...

Allowed code pages and encodings to write f0.txt through f1.txt?
Hi there. Slackware's installer, that I am internationalizing, makes use of ISOLINUX. I want to give instructions to users in other languages than US English, e.g. which code to type to see installation messages in their native language. So my question are: (1) Which character encodings can be used in message.txt and f1.txt through f1O.txt? (2) Is UTF-8 allowed? (3) I'm guessing that

...ut should work OK for the primary domain, is that correct? There is no point in using 'rid' with 'autorid', they both do the same thing, they map users using the users SID. If you have multiple domains, then the easiest way to set up smb.conf is by using using 'autorid', elsewise you would have to set up multiple 'idmap config' blocks for each domain. If you only have one domain, then you could use the 'ad' or 'rid' winbind backend. If you do not use the DC as a fileserver, then the 'rid' backend is probably the one to use, this way you d...

speex over radio and homemade hardware
...escaping or very simple commands. > transmit and receive data over a radio link > what I do know is they are looking at transmitting across a 2400baud connection Forgive the presumption, but why don't you just send voice over the radio link? Short of encryption, which is best handled elsewise anyway, I can't think of a good reason to create a data stream, losing a lot of the applicable range of the audio stream to modulation steps, to facilitate the passing of hugely lossily compressed audio, losing massive fidelity to fit into the data stream. I mean, the brain's already got s...

Three-way ANOVA?
Hi, I'm a biologist, so please forgive me if my question sounds absurd! I have 3 parameters x1, x2, x3 and a response variable y.The sample size is 75. I tried to do the following: mylm<-lm(y~ x1 + x2 + x3, data="mydata") but i can only get stats from anova for the first 2 variables. The third comes up as NA. The degrees of freedom for the third variable are 0. Is there

Matching Up Values
Dear all, I have two files, both of similar formats. In column 1 are Latitude values (real numbers, e.g. -179.25), column 2 has Longitude values (also real numbers) and in one of the files, column 3 has Population Density values (integers); there is no column 3 in the other file. However, the main difference between these two files is that one has fewer rows than the other. So what I'm

Scaffold: What's the advantage of actions create/update?
Hi all I''m quite unsure what''s the point to have a create and update action in the Rails scaffolds... I guess the developers had good reason to implement them, but I don''t really see the reason for them... Why no just checking for get/post within the same new/edit method? def new unless request.post? # do the normal "new" stuff else # do the
