conflicts in updating to CR repo
Note, first of all I haven't actually updated, I'm just running "yum update"
to see what conflicts, if any, I get so I can be prepared when the final
7.7 release happens.
I've traditionally used the nvidia packages from elrepo, but recently
enabled rpmfusion (back when I started using 7.x, I disabled rpmfusion
because it took them a looooong time to get a EL7 repository up).
I use the priority plugin in yum, and have elrepo at priority 50
and rpmfusion at priority 60, so the elrepo nvidia packages
should "win"...

C7: EPEL conflicts with Base and ElRepo?
Hi everyone,
This just came to my attention --- I have CentOS 7 installed on one
machine, and have configured elrepo and epel as additional
repositories. When I turned on the yum-priorities package (and set up
priorities in the order base&updates < elrepo < epel), it turns out
that there are 65 conflicting packages between base and epel, and
additional 5 between elrepo and epel (there are no conflicts b...

Question on CentoS 7.4 on nvidia
I installed the elrepo kmod-nvidia and also the nvidia-detect and modules
(see below).
I had X working with the 3.10 from Centos - but video was freezing. SO I
thought I would try the elrepo kernel. I installed that and X does not come
up?
How do I re-make the nvidia module for 4.14.5 kernel? I want to make sure

Yum refuses to install kmod-8188eu from elrepo
...r/log/messages), but that's about it, no network device
is being created (iwconfig does not see it, nothing else works).
A few google searches later I found out that this realtek chip is not
supported by the kernel and requires a driver, and that the driver is
packaged for C7 as kmod-8188eu in elrepo.
However, yum install kmod-8188eu refuses to install it (full yum
output is here: https://pastebin.com/raw/vvak6FCU ), complaining that
the following dependencies cannot be met:
--> Processing Dependency: kernel(wireless_send_event) = 0xa02e7e03 for

kmod-nvidia?
I just went to install kmod-nvidia on a 64-bit CentOS 6.2 system... and
enabling elrepo, yum can't find it. There's a page for it, but that was
last updated last year, and there are also references to packages for
older Nvidia cards, but not the current.
What do I not know?

New C7 kernel ABI and kmods
All,
This is just a heads-up that the new C7 update kernel breaks ABI
compatibility, at least as far as using the ELrepo nVidia drivers is
concerned. I have posted more details to the ELrepo list; but since
many folks use the Elrepo kmods I thought a heads-up would be appropriate.
If you use the ELrepo nvidia kmod you will either need to hold off on
the kernel update or uninstall the nvidia kmod.

nvidia on 7.6
I have elrepo installed. rpm -qa | grep elrepo gives
elrepo-release-7.0.3.el7.elrepo.noarch
nvidia detect (which installed) tells me kmod-nvidia-340xx
when I do yum install kmod-nvidia-340xx it is saying no package
kmod-nvidia-340xx available ?
What did I miss? Thanks,
Jerry
