Multithreaded SAMBA/Winbind
Hi. We have a configuration and audit application called Tripwire Enterprise (7.5) that is running on a Red Enterprise Linux 5.2 server. On this server, we are using winbind (samba version 3.0.33) for authentication (against Windows AD). When we try to run a configuration check on users and permissions we get an error that there is a problematic frame : C [libnss_winbind.so.2+0x129f] . I

Automated Fixed Order Stepwise Regression Function
Greetings, I am interested in creating a stepwise fixed order regression function. There's a function for this already called add1( ). The F statistics are calculated using type 2 anova (the SS and the F changes don't match SPSS's). You can see my use of this at the very end of the email. What I want: a function to make an anova table with f changes and delt R^2. I ran into

Polycom & VPN trouble
...d a 'proper' config via FTP. I brought this phone over and it does the same thing. Funny thing is that if I use xten on my laptop (which also rings when this particular extension is rung), the softphone AND polycom always ring. There is no NAT and no firewall rules on the VPN (I've elminated them as a troubleshooting step :-). I am running a fairly recent CVS HEAD version of *, on Suse 9.2. The phone rings all the time on the same network as the * box. Before I started digging any further into this problem, I was wondering if anyone here has experienced these issues, and what you...

Zero-Inflated Negative Binomial Regression
Hi! I'm running a zero-inflated negative binomial regression on a large (n=54822) set of confidential data. I'm using the code: ZerNegBinRegress<-zeroinfl(Paper~.|., data=OvsP, dist="negbin", EM=TRUE) And keep getting the error: Warning message: glm.fit: fitted probabilities numerically 0 or 1 occurred I've done enough reading about this error to realize that I have

Disabling AAAA DNS record lookups?
When performing a cross-domain SSH login as a member of an AllowGroups (/etc/ssh/sshd_config) AD group, Samba does a SRV DNS lookup and then performs DNS lookups on the 40+ kdc's reported to it. Besides an A record lookup, an AAAA (ipv6) record lookup is performed on each of these machines. I disabled loading of the ipv6 module by setting "alias net-pf-10 off" in modprobe.conf and

Samba PDC + Winbind
Hello all. First, a little background... I recently downloaded samba-*-ldap-2.2.5-2mdk , installed on Mandrake 8.2 and got everything working fine. I have LDAP installed for "single sign-on" support. I can use LDAP to authenticate other Linux boxes, and have Samba as a PDC for some Win2000 boxes - all working fine. Linux users are the same as PDC users, except for their passwords

Idea to possibly improve flac?
> whilst at the same time the development has ceased. I've found some > severe issues with OggFLAC that essentially make it a useless format > for streaming, no one cared. Yes, this is sad. cdparanoia, which could be considered a strong opensource meatspace partner to FLAC (along with cdda2wav) is also effectively dead. All three living on only in the ports trees of various operating

Idea to possibly improve flac?
Hi folks! Due to the fact that more and more users increasingly use MP3 < 320kbps as their source for encoding music, and publish it as flac files, I suggest that something is done in the flac encoder to possible avoid this. My idea is kinda easy/stupid, but might work; Implement a function that use a FFT to check if the input has frequencies > 16kHz, and informs the user that the file

...t local user profile is on the workstation from which they first log on. You can extend that notion to "doctor" the profile on the server to adapt to the different clients before the profile loader runs, so once again Samba scores over NT. But none of this is worth trying until you've elminated the purely MS-originated component in your woes.
