regression output to latex
hello everybody
i was seeking a converter beetween R regression output (eg with
summary) and the conventional way to present regression output in
paper: every model as a vertical vector with \beta, t beetween
parenthesis below the first, and other statistics (R^2 etc) .
I've seen hmisc and xtable, and if I didn't miss something, they
don't include something like that.
Thank you

Output to Latex using Memisc almost works
Hello,
I'm using memisc to output regression results to tables and latex. My
problem is that the output that Latex needs must be in between $ $ so that
it is read as formula but memisc does not output the result between $ $.
For example, latex needs: $0.05^{***}$ and memisc outputs 0.05^{***} in an
entry.
I am new to Latex and I imagine it could also be a latex 'problem' and not

how to read .sps (SPSS file extension)?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to import .sps (SPSS portable file) file.
the read.spss function (library foreign) doesn't allow to import such files.
should I import in spss and then save as sav file? there is not other
solutions available?
what I mostly like from spss file is that they have variable labels.
want is really wish to keep are the variable.labels from the spss file; so,
if there is a

New package test results available
We've added a column at
http://cran.r-project.org/web/checks/check_summary.html
of test results using the Sun Studio compiler: it is intended that
these will be updated weekly.
The Sun Studio compiler is that used on Solaris: these runs were on
the Linux version. All the other platforms are using gcc 4, so this
provides an opportunity for checking for use of gcc-specific features

Problems with aggregate
Hello list,
I'm new to this list, so please forgive my ignorance. I have searched
R-help for some hints into what might be my problem, but I truly have no
idea where to go from here.
I have an object of approximately 15,000 rows and 2 columns. There are
many duplicates in the first column, all with different corresponding
values in the second column. For example (2 is duplicated):

Aggregate factor names
Hi all,
A suggestion derived from discussions amongst a number of R users in
my research group: set the default column names produced by aggregate
() equal to the names of the objects in the list passed to the 'by'
object.
ex. it is annoying to type
with(
my.data
,aggregate(
my.dv
,list(
one.iv = one.iv
,another.iv = another.iv
,yet.another.iv = yet.another.iv
)

Passenger Best Practice
...eb brick server, to
using passenger.
I'd like to get an idea of how folk are running passenger? Ideally
I'd like to keep everything rpm based, so would need ruby enterprise
rpms, and then the mod_rails / passenger plugin?
How are you folk doing it?
I've seen:
http://download.elff.bravenet.com/5/x86_64/repoview/mod_passenger.html
And I've also seen:
https://packages.endpoint.com/
Which seems to do some enterprise ruby.
What else is out there? I'm more than happy to do it all myself, but
if so it ought to be done in the way which best serves the project...
So....

Agent-based social simulation and R
Do anyone know anything about the use of R for agent-based social
simulation? It should be possible, and would be convenient for the
simple reason that there are several nice packages containing useful
stuff for SNA (Social Network Analysis). Information about packages,
web sites, experienced persons in the field, etc. would be very welcome.

nls: different results if applied to normal or linearized data
Dear all,
I did a non-linear least square model fit
y ~ a * x^b
(a) > nls(y ~ a * x^b, start=list(a=1,b=1))
to obtain the coefficients a & b.
I did the same with the linearized formula, including a linear model
log(y) ~ log(a) + b * log(x)
(b) > nls(log10(y) ~ log10(a) + b*log10(x), start=list(a=1,b=1))
(c) > lm(log10(y) ~ log10(x))
I expected coefficient b to be identical

Format regression result summary
Hello to the whole group.
I am a newbie to R, but I got my way through and think it is a lot easier to
handle than other software packages (far less clicks necessary).
However, I have a problem with respect to the summary of regression results.
The summary function gives sth like:
Residuals:
Min 1Q Median 3Q Max
-0.46743 -0.09772 0.01810 0.11175 0.42252
