Turning root partition into a RAID array
I have a CentOS 4.2 system that was set up VERY quickly following the demise
of its former life as a CentOS 3 server - you don't want the full story, but
it had to be done quickly to get a company up and working following a slight
disaster involving an electrician, a portable appliance safety tester and a
pulled power cable - anyway, here's where I am at...
Everything is running fine but

Pigeonhole, vacation being sent incorrectly
Hi,
I have an issue with a vacation message in a sieve script. I can't see
an error in the script itself.
Pigeonhole version: 0.4.2-32
Dovecot Version: 2.2.10
The script was created by Ingo (part of the Horde suite), but I think
the script is fine. The problem is that when a message is sent to the
"everyone" group (and alias for every person in the organisation),

Re: Newbie Questions - Grandstorm phones?
...price for IP phones or ADSI phones can be
much lower than you think. Find a good consultant in your area, get an
ATA, a TDM card, and an Aastra/SNOM/Polycom/Granstream to play with.
You can order the Aastra phones from your local electrical supply
company (the place with a long counter and lots of electricians drinking
coffee ordering their parts.).

Centos machine sometimes unreachable
I have a simple perl script that every few hours pings the handful of
machines on my LAN. Lately I've sometimes been getting
ping of 192.168.0.1 succeeded
ping of 192.168.0.7 succeeded
ping of 192.168.0.5 FAILED
ping of 192.168.0.6 succeeded
ping of 192.168.0.9 succeeded
This machine in question has been running Centos faithfully for about six
years and no recent changes to it have been

Fenton PowerPal 660 strange reading and issues...
Hi There, i have a strange problem with a fenton powerpal 660. When you
switch off the power to the UPS (from the wall), the server (IBM xSeries
203) attached to it dies...However, if you unplug the cable from the
server to the UPS and plug it back in again (with the power still out to
the UPS), the server starts up again (set to power up after a power
failure) and runs with no issues. I have

Interpreting data from 220V input APC UPS
Following up on this, I've figured out what's going on. What I'm not
sure of is how best to address the situation. I'd like to avoid going
down to the MIB level because I just don't understand it.
"Split phase" output devices seem to fall into an undefined area.
They're not three phase, but require additional MIB values so APC uses
their 3-phase MIB

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi,
Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with
8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid.
In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to
measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops
that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per
unit. This number is the important one these days

X101P + TDM400P
I thought I'd share my Asterisk experience, which hasn't exactly been as
pleasant as I would like but now seems usable in most ways and more then
I expected in other ways. I wanted a home PBX system, that would let me
treat different callers different ways depending on CID.
I initially bought the Digium developer's kit to try things out. That's a
single port TDM400 and a X101P.

GTX 670 Tips?
Gordan & David,
Read about your latest work, and was thrilled to learn that both soft and
hard mods are working.
I bought the GTX 670 model in David''s article, I will be giving this a shot
in a week.
I was hoping to ask a few questions.
1. Is there a specific qemu version required (traditional or the new
default)?
2. What (if anything) should be done after removing the resistors

Back-up connection
Some weeks ago, I asked if anyone had set up a backup scheme for a remote
server.
By backup here, I mean an alternative arrangement that can be called upon
if eg the DSL connection to the remote machine fails.
I received one interesting reply:
======================
At home, besides my fixed lines,
I have two gsm-modems, one low-speed (that came free of charge with one of
my fixed lines),

Slightly OT: Generators & UPS
Hi,
Can anyone shed some light on this:
My PC's are on a separate power circuit. Each PC has its own UPS.
I have an old Honda generator. When the power goes out, I fire up the
generator. However, the UPS's still run on battery. If I connect the
PC directly to the socket and bypass the UPS, the PC works.
I was told by a UPS supplier, that the power output from the
generator was
