Hi all, I''ve been trying to fit a mixed effects model and I''ve been having problems. =>My aim: to know whether states atributes, political parties and individual atributes affect the electoral results of men and women candidates. I use candidates as replications for states and for political parties. =>Response: Percentage of valid votes casted to each

[LLVMdev] [Propose] Add address-taken bit to GlobalVariable for disambiguation purpose
Nadav: I don't think this is right approach for engineering. The time-complexity of re-analyzing addr_taken for each single alias query depends on 1. how many global variable 2. how many occurrence of these global variables. 3. how many queries the compiler have. 3) depends on compiler. You never know what we will have in the following few years. 1 and 2 depends on the

3.0.9 homes share and read-only MS Excel files
Hello, I'm hoping that somebody out there can help with this strange problem... First off I'm running Kernel 2.6.9, Samba 3.0.9 on Debian Linux, with WinXP clients. Users working out of their home directories are creating and saving Excel documents and when they later attempt to edit and save the document they've created it results in this message from Excel 2000: "Document

[LLVMdev] [Propose] Add address-taken bit to GlobalVariable for disambiguation purpose
Hi, all: Per Chris and Nadav's request, I begin to write the code about analyzing address-taken lazily. I realize the alias query could be initiated from any context (*function* pass, loop pass etc), however, the analysis for global-variable-address-taken is conducted in *module* scope. Is there any potential problem over here? (For instance, function foo() and bar() comprise module

analyzing results from Tuesday's US elections
Hello: What can you tell me about plans to analyze data from this year's general election, especially to detect possible fraud? I might be able to help with such an effort. I have NOT done much with election data, but I have developed tools for data analysis, including web scraping, and included them in R packages available on the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN)

OT : sensible analysis of censored rank data
This is more of a conceptual/methodological question than "how to do it in R", so anyone who cares to reply might want to do it off list. I have censored rank order data .. electors have been asked to rank the 4 most important issues out of a list of 20. For each individual we therefore have a vector of 20 measurements 1..5, where 1..4 are ranks and 5 = not ranked/less important than the nominated 4. I would like to be able to use the full information in the ranking, not...

Problem with X tunneling, su, and xauth
Hi all. I'm trying to use ssh to connect from a PC (using TerraTerm with the ssh add-in) to a Solaris 8 or Solaris 9 box (both running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2) to establish a session for X-forwarding. Everything works great, until I use "su" to change to another account (such as root). The su'd user doesn't seem to be able to authenticate properly to use the X-tunnel. I did a

Allow remote hosts for remote forwarded ports
Hi all, I just wanted to temporarily make some new CMS I set up available to the public for testing on port 8080 of our web server forwarded via ssh to to my local, firewalled workstation: ssh me at some-host.tld -R 8080:localhost:80 However I had to notice that this only binds to the loopback interface and not to all. For -L there is the -g option to low connects to locally forwarded ports
