Running Icecast2 behind Amazon Elastic Load Balancer (ELB)
...ilability zones.
I'm aware of some "playlist based" loadbalancing techniques using .m3u or
HTTP redirects to the icecast servers, but this is not ideal for us, as a)
we need to support some legacy players (eg. set top boxes) that don't
support redirects or m3u's, and b) using ELB allows us to very easily
provision backend health checks, multi availability zone redundancy, and
auto scaling of Icecast servers.
Hope that answers your question,
Cheers,
Matt

Running Icecast2 behind Amazon Elastic Load Balancer (ELB)
...f you expect to saturate the upstream
bandwidth of the instance running Icecast. Which nowadays is in the
10-20k listener range at the very least. Clustering through DNS also
removes that limitation.
For context, such listener numbers are only achieved by the largest
on-line radio stations.
Does an ELB have more upstream bandwidth than a single instance? Would
be one question. If not (iow >>1Gbit) you need a different approach anyway.

Running Icecast2 behind Amazon Elastic Load Balancer (ELB)
Hello,
I'm writing to see if anyone here has had any success running Icecast2
(specifically I am using 2.4) on Amazon EC2 behind an Elastic Load Balancer?
I have the ELB configured to do TCP loadbalancing rather than HTTP. I am
able to connect and to stream music via the ELB, but when I disconnect, the
listener count in Icecast does not decrease. On examining the state of the
sockets table after disconnection I see that the socket from the ELB to
Icecast is in the...

mountpoint permissions changing by themselves
...9;s worth checking out if there are
circumstances in which gluster might change the permissions of its
mountpoint.
When the permissions do change to 444 on the mountpoint, they also
change on /var/gluster/ns to match (as expected).
Anyone seen this on a gluster environment before?
Thanks,

Puppet proxies
I''ve seen a couple of examples of using puppet to control services
where you can''t run a puppet agent on the resource. As far as I can
tell they work by having puppet proxy through some external-service
control mechanism, such as fog. The question is: where does the proxy
run? I assume a puppet agent needs to run somewhere. Where do you put
that agent, how do you configure it,

multiple connection
Hi all,
>From time to time my server getting multiple connection from a same
listener.
I don't know if it's a bug of the player, or a case of abusing.
The situation is "flooding" of the server,
the same listener connected to ICE in multiple instances,
and using "real" bandwidth (e.g 128K x 30)!
how do you handle this situation on your servers?

Is decoupling Apache + PHP into separate nodes possible?
<preamble>
I have deployed Linux/Apache/PHP (node1) + MySQL (node2) with Security
Groups (AWS) or iptables controlling who can connect to the MySQL
server. In topology terms -- a 2 Tier architecture. In AWS - one
can deploy several such instances behind a ELB. Each LAP instance
talks to a MySQL RDS. The LAP instances are either mod_php or
PHP-FPM. OS -- CentOS, Ubuntu. Debian

For one of my client's end user customer, their InfoSec team is asking
if Apache and the PHP application can run in separate nodes (3 Tier
arch).

IceCast Stream stopping due to server client limit reached
Our IceCast streamer version 2.4.1 provides an aac and mp3 stream from our
community radio station. We have recently had a number of streaming feed
drop outs that appear to occur when the error log says the server client
limit reached. The config file is set to limit at 100. I could change this
but the connections keep coming until I reboot the IceCast program. We
normally only have a few clients

Hello,
My name is Michael and I am working on a project at school and need a step in the right direction. I need to access my Samba server using Windows clients(XP). I have all of my Linux users created as well as for Samba. I have created Samba shared directories. Do I need to create shares with in those directories? Then after I do that what is my next step as far as being able to
