Windows iconv() "failure" in certain locales

suggestion to fix packageDescription() for Windows users
I'd be curious to know what others think of Rich's patch. If it is acceptable, I can spend time that I was going to look at it this week on another bug. -----Original Message----- From: Rich Calaway Sent: Friday, June 23, 2017 6:34 PM To: Nathan Sosnovske <nsosnov at microsoft.com>; Duncan Murdoch <murdoch.duncan at gmail.com>; Andrie de Vries <apdevries at gmail.com>

Density function for non-central t distribution
...te changes are made to Makefiles, to the dt function in src/library/base/R/distn.R etc. I haven't read a lot of R source code so it may need some R-ification, but I've tried to use the dt.c file as a standard. ...essarily a "good idea". Another (possibly better) solution to this would be to return both ratios and then let print.power.htest present the result in the correct way. Also, the df.method in the result list could be removed for the one-sample and the paired case. Please comment, Claus Ekstr?m power.t.test <- function (n = NULL, delta = NULL, sd = 1, sig.level = 0.05, power = NULL, ratio = 1, sd.ratio = 1, type = c("two.sample", "one.sample", "paired"), alternative = c("two.sided", "one.sided&quot...

nls.control in gnls
...ls. Maybe it would even be a good idea to pass nlsMaxIter from gnlsControl on to the initial call to nls? As far as I can see from the code it is only used in maximization after the call to get the starting value. sample size/power calc packages
For various reasons, I spent part of my time today looking at sample size and power calculation tools (don't ask, don't tell...). This seems to be one area that R is incredibly weak in (well, nearly all stat packages, except perhaps specialized tools and SAS); sure, there are a number of functions in various packages: base, statmod, Hmisc Have I missed something? Power Analysis
I am trying to do a power analysis to get the number of replicas per treatment. If I try to get the power it works just fine: setn=c(2,3) sdx=c(1.19,4.35) power.t.test(n = setn, delta = 13.5, sd = sdx, sig.level = 0.05,power = NULL) If I go the other way to obtain the "n" I have problems. sdx=c(1.19,4.35) pow=c(.8,.8) power.t.test(n = NULL, delta = 13.5, sd = sdx, sig.level = 0.05,
