Call Detail Record Analysis Packages?
Can anyone share any links regarding packages to do Call Detail Record (CDR)
analysis from the CDR Master file?
Login-distance reconciliation, billback, and data presentation are three primary
areas of interest.
Thanks in advance for your help!

now I really may have a problem, yuck
Morning,
Well I ordered a Windows Server 2008 Standard for a need around here and
after just spending an hour with Dell support (nice fellow, not his fault)
I find that now the 2008 Server is too *new* for the Samba NT4 PDC model.
I got this box joined fine with my domain, but any time I try to log
into it over RDP, and the new box authenticates with samba (and samba
talks to OpenLDAP) the box

Unusable performance over WAN (part 2)
Hi all,
Disregard my previous posts, I've consolidated everything here.
I'm having terrible performance issues with samba over a WAN
(point-to-point T1 link).
Doing a copy of a 2MB file from a samba server to a linux client
running smbclient takes over 5 minutes.
SCPing the same file takes seconds.
The server is running samba version 3.0.25c with kernel 2.6.16.18.
I've put up a set

tinc 1.1pre10 "failed to decrypt record" on Windows client
Tinc newbie here so apologies if this is obvious or has been discussed
already; I did search but couldn't find anything.
I'm testing tinc 1.1pre10 between a Windows 7 client and Linux server.
The Linux machine is on the internet and the Windows machine is on my
home network behind NAT. I have successfully configured a Linux client
on my home network to communicate with the server

Unable to Join Domain
I recently setup a new server with CentOS 5.2. Everything works great on
the server except when I try to join the domain it simply tells me:
"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "Domain":
The user name could not be found.
I have researched this error and attempted a number of fixes but have been
unable to resolve the issue. I am able to connect to

Defragmentation of large files
Hi list,
I have a few large image files (VMware workstation VMDKs and TrueCrypt
containers) which I routinely back up over the network to a btrfs raid10
volume via bigsync (https://code.google.com/p/bigsync/).
The VM images in particular get really fragmented due to CoW, which is
expected. I haven''t yet switched off CoW on the backups directory mainly
to experiment and see what

samba and ssl certificates?
Morning,
I am working on enabling the ssl portion of several of my services (https,
imaps, ftps, etc). I am using a free certification authorithy (CA) for
my certificates. I need to get this CA's root certificate installed in
my several windows workstations. All these workstations are part of my
samba PDC domain.
Is there a way I can use samba, or maybe the logon.bat file, to install

odd mac situation
Morning,
This is somewhat off topic. I've not thought of a better place to ask
than here.
I have a user on a Macbook (Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard) with Microsoft Office
2008 for the mac and Parallels running an image of Microsoft Windows XP
Pro with Microsoft Office 2007. Inside Parallels and XP Pro the user can
open a spreadsheet shared from a Windows Server 2003 box, and yet the
user gets an

Steps to move away parts away from samba?
Morning,
I like samba, but I'm tired of what I feel is fighting battles. I want
to move the PDC portion of samba to an Active Directory server (I've
been told AD is a part of Server 2008?). Would someone please list the
steps for doing this? My rough idea so far is:
- take an LDIF from OpenLDAP
- install the server 2008 box
- load the LDIF into AD
- join the AD box to the samba domain

FW: Unofficial Samba+ACL howto
Sorry - I should have addressed this to Paul Eggleston who started this thread. Regardless who started it (the Samba + ACL howto), my offer still stands if I can be of any help. I'd be happy to help with this documentation, input, proof reading, whatever. There's definately a big lack here and the Samba team already has their hands full.

Samba & Vista
I'm trying to use smbclient to look at a Vista box but I keep getting:
# smbclient -L user-pc -U Kellie
Password: <Kellie's password>
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I know the user/password combination is good.
I googled around and got the impression that Vista didn't play well
with Samba because of some authentication protocol that Vista uses but
I also got the

Bug#748052: xen-hypervisor-4.3-amd64: No USB keyboard after booting into Dom0
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.3-amd64
Version: 4.3.0-3+b1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
After booting into kernel 3.13 dom0, the keyboard no longer works.
All other aspects work, ssh is needed to login to the system to
start working with the domU's.
They keyboard works at the grub menu just fine, and
works normal when booting into the non xen kernel.

Thanks.
Please do provide the whole thing (for both cases), the log here shows
that it is not finding the device but doesn't include the bit where the
USB driver itself is...

FWIW,
I also tried a fresh wheezy install.
Dist-upgraded to Jessie, and installed the xen-hypervisor package.
Then rebooted into the XEN 3.2 kernel that comes with wheezy.
Keyboard still doesn't work.
Cheers,
Mike

Was that with the Jessie or Wheezy dom0 kernel?

Actually tried both kernels. 3.13 on Jessie and 3.2 on Wheezy.
The keyboard failed on any xen 4.3 boot.
If it was nonxen, or xen 4.1 on any kernel the keyboard worked normal.
Thanks for your help troubleshooting.

Forgive me as I'm not that familiar with source code.

smb.conf setting for file permissions?
Hi,
I have a very old version of samba on one of the boxes I'm not allowed
to update. I have a request from a user group that all the group be
allowed to edit a set of file. At the command line I 'chmod 666 $file'
and all is well. I can edit and save the file. The permissions return to
744. I want the file permissions to not be changed when someone saves
a file. What parameter can I
