dom0 boot with grub2 + UEFI but cannot access efivars
Hi, I boot my Gentoo dom0 using grub2 + UEFI. The system can boot and works fine. But I cannot see "/sys/firmware/efi", and "modprobe efivars" gives me error. I am thinking maybe I should use the xen.efi to boot my system. But I have not succeeded in doing so. Please point me to the right direction. CentOS6: HELP! EFI boot fails after replacing disks...
...re boot) logic that wants the original disk, even if everything is moved over. I ended up putting the original /dev/sda in. The machine boots and is using the new system disk (a raid array in degraded mode). What is the magic to fix this? I tried to run efibootmgr, but it wants a model named efivars loaded, but there is no such module available. Booting legacy Linux kernel in EFI mode
...s, but when I try to boot on a linux kernel, I get an error like "no such file or directory" while I see it download the file from the tftp. Is this a bug in syslinux? Or is there a deep incompatibility? And (a bit out of scope) if I get my old kernel to boot in EFI mode, will the driver efivars have access to the EFI variables? Or does the kernel need to be recompiled specially for EFI? Regards, Celelibi

efibootmgr not working on xen-unstable booted on uefi system
I have installed dom0 Wheezy 64 bit on Dell PowerEdge T310 with kernel from package and xen-unstable. System is in Uefi mode and booted with grub-efi-amd64. Booting without xen efibootmgr works, while with xen not, efivars kernel module is loaded but show this message: efibootmgr Fatal: Couldn''t open either sysfs or procfs directories for accessing EFI variables. Try ''modprobe efivars'' as root. If you need some additional info please notify me, thanks for any reply. -- View this message i...

Systems that boot via UEFI will have /sys/firmware/efi. You may have access to your secure boot setting in /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/, or in the output of "bootctl --path /boot/efi status" _______________________________________________ CentOS mailing list CentOS at centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

CentOS6: HELP! EFI boot fails after replacing disks...
...r Linux to get this UUID (for the new disk(s)) and fill it in, but I cannot figure out what. Maybe efibootmgr has something to do with it, but efibootmgr does not work, either on a live system or a system booted from a DVD (CentOS 6.9 boot/install DVD) -- efibootmgr wants a kernel module named efivars that does not seem to exist. ...test it by manually loading it from the UEFI shell, and as a third option, you can EFI chain load it from Grub. The chain loading pretty much means that grubx64.efi loads xen.efi just as you would from the shell or the bootmgr. There is one small catch: Xen on native EFI doesn?t give you a normal efivars system in dom0. This has to be fixed on a lower level in either Linux or Xen. From what I?ve found out so far, the efivars are passed in a different way to Linux, but Linux doesn?t know about it and therefore cannot use it. This is the only downside to the whole thing. However, if you only want to...

Now, I?ve seen some messages on the mailing list where three people actually want to freeze the kernel on 3.16, but since 3.17 is on RC4 already and due to be released really soon (like, in 4 to 5 weeks) with a bit of l...
